Job Summary:
The Director, Connections will play a pivotal role with iHeartMedia’s new business development efforts in targeting, researching, and soliciting potential advertisers. He/she will develop and execute ideas/solutions that will help to position iHeartMedia as a strong multi-platform media & entertainment brand with the goal of driving new revenue. This role is both highly strategic, demanding a big picture thinker with a unique and conceptual approach to sales, as well as execution-oriented, requiring a hands-on, “get-it-done mentality.”
This role is high profile both externally, with client interaction at the most senior levels, and internally with the iHeartMedia Executive Team.
More specifically, this individual will:
• Develop sound relationships with the business community, learning nuances and gathering competitive intelligence with regard to the clients’ business, brand equity and marketing goals; clients should end up viewing Connections as a “thought partner” not as a media supplier
• Target, solicit, and secure new business by utilizing exemplary sales skills, networking ability and media tools
• Demonstrate creative leadership in the sales effort to develop new concepts that expand the existing advertisers base
• Effectively communicate and work across a variety of different internal groups to execute integrated solutions for the advertiser
• Structure, negotiate and close complex and sophisticated deals involving top level decision makers both within advertiser and agency organizations
• Create sales and marketing presentations that distinctively position IHeartMedia as a brand that can be leveraged across varied media platforms to create the most impact for each advertiser and the entire media plan
• Interface continuously and work effectively with the company’s top management creating solid internal relationships, bringing a “big picture” perspective to the business development effort as well as defining ongoing priorities and new opportunities
The Director, Connections is an important position within the National Sales, Marketing, & Partnerships Division. This role is a high profile, client-facing position tasked with the development of comprehensive, integrated relationships with leading national advertisers. A core responsibility will be to lead in developing national business across all iHeartMedia business units, including iHeartRadio, Premiere Networks, Total Traffic Network, Live Events, and more than 859 local radio station brands. Via Connections, marketers and their agencies can access any or all of the company’s assets including the multiple media platforms, personalities, creative and other resources.

Required Experience / Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an accomplished, reputable media executive with a successful track record at creating substantial revenue growth through the creation and implementation of innovative, integrated business development/campaigns across traditional and new media platforms. He/she will have demonstrated experience working for a prestigious and recognizable brand with a strong identity in the media & entertainment market. S/he will bring creativity, innovation and a consultative approach to the organization and provide a high level of strategic thinking as to how to invigorate the business through an integrated marketing approach. Specifically, the ideal candidate will possess:
• 7+ years of some combination of media sales and advertiser experience is required. Candidate’s background will include a mix of traditional media and digital sales experience, and strong conceptual sales success is highly valued
• Experience in developing and executing sound integrated marketing solutions across key business categories
• Proven ability to create “never been done”, highly-custom advertising solutions for each potential client based on deep client discovery
• A track record of opening new accounts and driving revenue growth across a broad spectrum of client categories
• Creativity and perseverance to develop business over the long term, a high level of independent thought and strategy
• A reputation for being an enthusiastic, energetic, effective networker who enjoys the selling process and is committed to building relationships and adding credibility for the Company
• A strong customer focus coupled with a sense of urgency for the business, and a passion for delivering the highest level of client service
• A strong existing “rolodex” of decision-capable client relationships
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to close a deal
• Excellent follow-up, strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• A “command presence”, with excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as the ability to speak to a senior level audience with confidence, while deftly discussing all aspects of the evolving radio/digital and other media platforms and how they relate to that specific client
• A student of business with a deeper focus on media, advertising, marketing and technology trends. Is able to translate business press into actionable linkages between IHeartMedia and prospective clients
• A solid working knowledge of media planning tools, CRM and Microsoft office
