VFX Editor - TV Series
Framestore are currently looking for a VFX Editor to be based with their client's editorial team in New York.
Experience of VFX editing within series based TV is a necessity, along with strong organizational skills and editorial workflow knowledge.
This editorial position is a key role in the liaison and organization of VFX shots between the editorial post team and Framestore's team based in London. Within this role you will be responsible for all VFX shot management, edit updates, wip deliveries and client reviews.
The ideal candidate will need to be highly self-motivated, proactive, able to work independently and as part of a team with internal and external clients. We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical background and at least three (3) years editing experience in the TV and/or film industry.
The start date is 9 October 2017 and the project will go until 16 March 2018. This is a freelance position and you must have the ability to work in the US.
Responsibilities:
• Good working knowledge of Avid
• Conforming from EDLs and meticulously checking against offlines for accuracy
• Organizing and preparing edits for distribution to various VFX departments
• Maintaining an up to date edit whilst taking into account changing EDLs from clients as well as per shot versions from VFX departments
• Preparing for and operating NLE system during internal and client reviews
• Taking responsibility for own workload, time management and notes/feedback actions required by Supervisors/Producers
• Updating edits and outputting client WIPs
• Working closely with VFX Supervisors and Producers
• Working closely with Digital intermediate Assistants and Colorists
Essential Skills:
• A thorough understanding of core editing workflow principles (EDL management, formats, frame rates, colorspace etc)
• A working knowledge of Hiero or (at least) a knowledge of another NLE (FCP, Avid, Smoke).
• Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
• A polite and respectful attitude towards clients
• A pro-active and collaborative work ethic
• A strong eye for detail and a meticulous nature
• The ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve
• A working knowledge of different professional cameras: R3D, Canon, Phantom, Arri Alexa
• Good knowledge and prior experience of shotgun
Desirable Skills:
• Knowledge of The Foundry's Hiero software
• Familiarity with Render Farms
• A working knowledge of a modern, professional VFX pipeline
• Experience in dealing and communicating with clients
• Python programming knowledge
• Understanding of professional broadcast video specifications and the ability to read and understand broadcast scopes.
• Knowledge of SDI video theory and signal flow and Video tape deck experience is a plus.
