This position is TEMPORARY and will be covering for a Leave of Absence. The Staff Accountant performs professional level accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records. The position requires considerable knowledge of accounting principles and accounting functions. The Staff Accountant is responsible for the general ledger, billings, banking activities (i.e. cash receipts, deposits, positive pay, ACH etc.), bank reconciliation and financial reporting requirements. Additional responsibilities include performing monthly closings and maintenance of complex computer system/financial applications, maintenance of accounting files, and preparation/organization of various financial forms, reports, and financial analyses, etc. This individual may be asked to assist with ad-hoc projects and general office support tasks when necessary. These responsibilities and tasks will be coordinated with and supervised by the Sr. Director of Finance.
Essential Duties:
• Perform monthly sponsorship billings.
• Review, process and record banking activities (i.e. prepare deposits, set up transfers and wires on bank website, apply cash receipts etc.)
• Monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts including cash, receivables, inter-companies, payables, deferrals, etc.
• Prepare and input journal entries and accruals through the general ledger.
• Prepare various standard and ad hoc reports to include Excel pivot tables and analyses for management.
• Complete and provide various schedules and reports requested by third parties for audit.
• File all copies of billings and supporting documentation, and maintain accounting files/documents.
Required Qualifications
• Must have at least 2-4 years of accounting experience working with complex computer systems/financial applications (i.e. JDEdwards, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, etc.).
• Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system/financial application.
• Must have considerable knowledge with accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.) and accounting functions.
• Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
• Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines.
• Must have excellent organizational skills.
• Must have hands-on computer skills and ability to operate a 10-key adding machine by touch.
• Must have skills with Excel, Word and Email applications.
