The Vice President, Booking and Content Development will serve as the principal contact with all of AEG’s North American Facilities booking and content development teams. Also, provides direct supervision of event booking at Oracle Arena, Oakland, CA.
Responsibilities
• Act as liaison between agencies, promoters, and AEG Facilities; applies special emphasis on relationships with the regional promoter offices
• Work to aggressively promote the use of the facilities to maximize utilization by directly negotiating routing of shows
• Aggressively negotiate content agreements with agencies and promoters
• Interfaces with promoters, talent booking and marketing teams for all AEG Facilities venues to coordinate booking schedules, artist relationships, and ticket sales planning and event settlements
• Provides input on branding and marketing efforts, including sales collateral and show related marketing
• Creates, develops and pursues new events for venues, including but not limited to new touring events. Emphasis is placed on sourcing and creating new, unique events for the venues, including local, regional, national, and international sporting events, concerts, comedy, family entertainment and special events
• Host regular meetings and conference calls with venue bookers to ensure optimal performance and results and ensures companywide strategies are adhered to
• Creates and manages business intelligence / data platform designed to maximize content opportunities at the individual venues
• Oversees development of Oracle Arena’s annual event calendars, activity schedules, and projections for attendance and revenue
◦ Responsible for sourcing, pitching, negotiating and securing live event content, including talent buying for co-promotional or venue-promoted events
◦ Implements and monitors a detailed program budget; supervises cost accounting required of events to include facility rental, ancillary revenue streams, and event related expenses upon advisement of the GM
• Manages, supervises and directs the activities of at least one full-time position (manager-level) in content development.
Qualifications:
• A minimum education level of a BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) in Management, Sales & Marketing, Business, or a related field
• Must A minimum of 10+ years of related work experience in booking/event creation and sales & marketing
• Proven commitment to talent development and creating productive teams, cultivating high performers, attracting new talent, setting/raising standards for performance and addressing performance issues effectively
• Must have proven history of negotiating complex and diverse content agreements
• Must have working knowledge of tour routing policies and practices
• Must have experience working with sports, entertainment and corporate organizations to attract and develop events at an arena or comparable facility
• Experience working with executive level staff
• Must have proven track record of developing and managing budgets
• Working knowledge of database development / business intelligence systems management
• Must be a self-starter and have ability to work under minimal supervision
• Working knowledge of all aspects of the operation of a major NHL and NBA arenas, and/or NFL stadiums strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of event and box office operations strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of food and beverage operations and revenue streams strongly preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hour, as needed
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and ability to learn all required business systems
• Must be able to travel
• Perform additional duties as required by the GM and senior management.
