We are looking for a Desktop Support Specialist to join our feature animation team in Vancouver and work with us on some exciting new projects.
Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot and solve various desktop-related issues as they arise
• Provide first line support to studio artists
• Follow up with users to confirm issues are resolved
• Escalate difficult issues as required
• Setup and configure desktop computers, peripherals and accounts
• Support studio by organizing and cleaning equipment, tracking inventory, and other assigned duties
• Assist higher-level IT staff with server and infrastructure tasks as required
• Be proactive about finding and fixing potential issues
• Ensure safe, fast, and secure media movement in and out of the studio
Qualifications:
• Excellent knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems as it relates to desktop users
• Excellent troubleshooting methodology and attitude
• Understanding of basic enterprise computer/networking infrastructure and terminology, such as:
– DNS, DHCP
– LAN, WAN, DMZ, TCP/IP, CIFS, NFS
– RDP, VNC, SSH, SCP
– AD GPOs
– IPMI, BMC, ILO
– Workstation components:
CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD, PSU
– Switches, firewalls, network attached storage
– Printers, peripherals, televisions, projectors, monitors
• Able to efficiently and effectively use CLI/shell OS commands
• Must be able to follow set protocols and best practices in a timely manner
• Strong interpersonal skills, relate well with all levels of the company
• Adapt quickly to changing priorities with a high level of patience
• Desire and ability to learn on your feet and complete tasks quickly
• Know your MBs from your GBs; know your kbps from your MBps
• Know your 2k from your 1080p
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 kg
Optional Assets:
• Basic working knowledge of Bash/Batch/Powershell/Python scripting
• Experience with the following is considered an asset:
– Animation/VFX-related software packages, such as: Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Photoshop
– Configuration management software such as: Puppet, Chef, Ansible
– Production tracking software, such as Shotgun and FTrack
– Active Directory and/or IPA
– Server hardware, such as Dell, Supermicro, HPE
– Administration of ‘G Suite’ products
• Have a valid driver’s license and own a car
