JOB SUMMARY
The VP, Business Intelligence is responsible for the strategic development of Charter’s single source of truth customer experience data infrastructure, which provides the Company’s Key Operating Metrics, standardized reporting, core customer and operational analytics capabilities, and data-driven solutions for labor performance management. Oversees multiple, highly functional Agile development and support teams, including product owners, ETL developers, analysts, and reporting specialists. Enables data-driven decision making across the enterprise by delivering BI solutions for the Field Operations, Customer Operations, Sales Teams, Marketing, Supply Chain, Product, Enterprise, and Cable Operations Business Planning groups.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall responsibility for the creation and delivery of the Business Intelligence platform for multiple core business functions.
Creates and maintains Business Intelligence platform architecture, roadmap, staffing plan and budget.
Leads all planning, strategy and execution of efforts in the operation and management of the Business Intelligence platform.
Oversees the creation of automated, customer-readable reports, using tools such as Microstrategy.
Sets direction for governing complex data used for reporting and analytics consistently across the organization.
Partners with business customers to execute roadmaps that support the business’ need for information, reporting solutions, and analytics.
Handles all team development needs: training, resource management, reallocation of staff, right sizing the team for the needs of the business, etc.
Implements strategies that ensure that new capabilities are leveraged across business functions efficiently and that the Company maintains a single view of truth for core customer and operational data that is leveraged across business functions.
Works with the technical and leadership team to ensure that all individual projects are appropriately supported and fully completed on time.
Ensures proper software development life cycle is leveraged for all projects.
Motivates teams through communication and awareness of project needs and business impacts.
Develops effective partnerships with corporate functional groups (Software Engineering, Operations, Care, IT, Product, etc.).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Expert understanding of Cable Operations business processes across multiple functions such as Customer Operations, Credit and Collections, Sales, Marketing, Field Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Product, etc.
Advanced skills with SQL, Hive or other database querying tools
Advanced understanding of best design and implementation practices in Microstrategy and/or Tableau or similar toolsets
Advanced knowledge of Agile development methodologies
Expert understanding of advanced analytics processes and reporting design principles
Exposure to HDFS (Hadoop) and big-data related technology stacks including Hive, Spark, Azkaban, Kafka and Pig
Strong business acumen and sense of urgency to achieve business results
A proven track record in managing development within a variety of technology stacks
Good working knowledge of development strategies, project management and business and technical consultancy
Ability to adapt, learn and continue to expand in cable and IP product and system knowledge
Strong problem resolution techniques
Strong presentation tool skills, including MS Excel and PowerPoint
Expert ability to balance conflicting resource demands and internal pressures
Expert ability to manage multiple complex and diverse projects simultaneously
Expert ability to analyze, interpret and present data
Expert communication skills, verbal and written, for internal and external customers
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to all levels of an organization to aid in decision-making
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to supervise and motivate others
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; relevant Master’s degree preferred
