Director, Programming Strategy - (VRV)
We’re looking for a unique mind, capable of blending a creative view with an analytical approach, to oversee programming strategy for the rapidly growing VRV platform. VRV is a curated multi-channel aggregator focused on super-serving passion fans. We feature partner channels, such as Shudder, Crunchyroll, Funimation, Cartoon Hangover, Mondo, and more. Further, we also recently launched a house channel, VRV Select, where we plan to curate content to sit alongside our partner programming. As we evaluate various content opportunities, we need to support each decision with a strong perspective on what will best serve the VRV audience.
Our audience represents a passionate and eclectic group of individuals that deeply love anime, animation, gaming, science fiction, horror, and so much more. You should understand the VRV target audience, have a deep relationship with content, and think about the world from a creative perspective supported by analytical reasoning. Responsibilities
• Support programming prioritization amongst all potential opportunities - partner channels, licensed content, and the development of original programming
• Establish, maintain, and optimize a content and channel acquisition framework that can be used and referenced by key internal stakeholders
• Conduct audience and engagement analysis to garner insights about preferences that will help us refine and optimize our programming filter
• Manage budgeting and cash flow related to our programming costs
• Enhance the programming strategy of our partner channels, particularly exclusive channels, as they assess content tradeoffs, release dates, and windowing strategy
• Schedule cross-network programming, working directly with partners to maintain a high level of awareness of scheduled partner content in advance
• Coordinate with internal Content Operations and Partnerships teams to ensure partner channels are exhibiting in a timely fashion
• Source, evaluate, and partner to deliver opportunities that will enable us to extend our content budget through partner funds, rights sales, and more
• Explore opportunities to increase the awareness of VRV programming through partnerships with other distribution outlets
Qualifications:
• 7+ years experience in media, programming, or similar with a focus on passion audiences; MBA valued
• Familiarity with how to program for the subscription video on demand business model
• A clear understanding of the digital video ecosystem and how distribution, platform features, and community affect programming decisions
• Candidate must demonstrate the ability to collaborate cross-functionality
• Excellent communication skills with a track-record of developing, supporting, and succeeding at driving a creative vision
• Passion for TV and new media with a strong desire to be part of the future of entertainment
• Great business judgment, proven strategic thinking and problem solving skills.
