Mastering is looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to help guide our roadmap and strategy for a critically important segment of our science and health customers. To be successful in this position you will need to quickly gain a deep understanding of teachers and learners and their problems to be solved, as well as be able to synthesize various inputs and motivate a cross-functional team to explore, validate and deliver successful end-to-end solutions. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of agile development practices, and will have a propensity for driving to completion. You will be fiercely customer-focused, and passionate about finding solutions to the challenging problems facing higher education students and instructors today.
Reporting to: Director of Product Management, Mastering
Responsibilities
• Gather insights across various internal and external stakeholders as well as customers in order to build and manage a short and long term roadmap
• Lead data-driven decision-making processes for roadmap tradeoffs that will optimize the business value delivered with each release
• Communicate clearly and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders about product releases and future roadmaps to help drive broad understanding and excitement for the potential and growth of the product.
• Create and execute on validation plans for a proposed solution to ensure the end product meets customer needs and expectations
• Ability to identify and rapidly test the riskiest assumptions surrounding product improvements
• Work with marketing colleagues to understand competitive products and when/why they win
• Work directly with customers as needed in order to gather insights and understand their day-to-day interactions with our products
• Build clear, high level requirements, emphasizing user goals and jobs-to-be-done, to aid in cross-team, highly collaborative design and building processes
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5+ years product management and/or product strategy experience
• Experience in agile development processes and defining roadmaps, taking into account a variety of stakeholders
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent data analysis skills
• Critical thinker and problem solver who is motivated to seek data to inform his or her work and able to distill insight from a wide array of information sources
• Demonstrated success developing a compelling product roadmap vision and business case, and executing delivery to market.
• Outstanding team player and relationship builder able to earn cross-functional/ cross-geographic team confidence through thought leadership and influencing skills
• Ability to listen to different perspectives and respond objectively and constructively to new ideas
• Passion for education, technology, and building immersive learning experiences
• Ability to deal with ambiguity, find creative resolutions and drive for results
