The Marketing Assistant will support the Marketing Manager in their author-focused marketing activities. Working across our Health Sciences portfolio of journals, the Marketing Assistant will be responsible for implementing the marketing plans using a variety of channels including email, print, exhibitions and social media. You will be responsible for supporting our conference exhibition programme by updating, refreshing and producing promotional materials for display. You will also work on ad-hoc marketing projects and provide support to the wider department as required. Your role will be varied and you will be the focal point of communication between different departments in a dynamic environment. The company will offer opportunities for training as well as occasional international travel to conference exhibitions.
Responsibilities and main duties:
• Assist in the creation, delivery and reporting of marketing campaigns
• Assist in the proof reading of emails, literature and website copy
• Assist with the administration and upkeep of the website, under the supervision of the Marketing Manager
• Assist in the creating and publishing of web landing pages
• Assist with ad-hoc marketing activities including advertising, direct mail, PPC and SEO
• Assist with coming up with new and innovative ways to promote the company
• Assist in arranging and fulfilling online marketing exchanges in order to promote the journal portfolios
• Assists in creating promotional materials, including leaflets and display banners
• Regularly liaising with editorial colleagues to leverage opportunities to promote content
• Keeping the marketing plan up to date
• Monthly reporting and analysis of campaign performance and feeding back to editorial colleagues
• Keeping up-to-date with industry and competitor developments
• Processing invoices and keeping accurate records of budget spend
Person Specification
Essential Skills
• Educated to degree level, or equivalent
• Professional experience in an office environment
• Highly computer literate – understands common software (e.g. Microsoft Office suite) and gains new software skills quickly
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail and proof-reading skills
• A proactive team player
Desirable Skills
• Keen interest in Publishing and/or Marketing
• Knowledge of digital marketing
• Experience in STM publishing and/or open access
• An interest in science
• Copywriting experience
