This is a great opportunity for a recent Life Sciences graduate (Biomedical modules) to further their scientific knowledge whilst developing commercial experience within the publishing industry. This is a highly visible role within the organization and one which is key to our success within the reprints market. The role involves working closely with the wide variety of content published by Springer as well as maintaining strong links with our global offices.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying articles of interest to our pharmaceutical company customers. Content will be identified from Springer’s own portfolio of journals as well as our commercial partners’ publications, entered into our internal databases in a timely and accurate way, and disseminated to our global reprint sales teams.
The role includes the following responsibilities:
• Using scientific knowledge and excellent time management skills, rapidly scan journal content to identify relevant reprint sales opportunities, key marketing messages and appropriate target clients.
• Accurately enter article details into our internal database (SMART) using administrative skills.
• Produce weekly alerts detailing newly published saleable articles and relevant pharmaceutical news stories to send to our global sales teams.
• Using our internal databases and business intelligence products, produce custom reports to help inform our sales people (e.g. producing drug pipeline reports).
• Support the maintenance and development of commercial partnerships with other publishers.
• Develop expertise with SMART & SAPCRM systems to support global colleagues.
Person specification
Essential
• A Life Sciences degree (Biomedical modules).
• Proven ability to quickly take in and evaluate scientific data.
• Demonstrates timely and accurate data entry skills.
• Proven ability to work to deadlines.
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates computer literacy, with experience of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Exhibits strong organisational and time management skills, and attention to detail.
Desirable
• Previous experience of the pharmaceutical and/or publishing industry(s)
• Knowledge of the drug development process /clinical research trials.
• Presentation and training skills.
Travel Requirements
Some travel within the UK/Europe/USA may be required
