Executive Director, Digital Supply Chain - Home Entertainment
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) currently distributes transactional digital content in more than 100 countries to digital retailers such as iTunes, PlayStation Network, Amazon, and many others including direct-to-consumer services such as Ultra 4K movies, Privilege Movies and Sony Pictures Store.
As a part of SPHE’s Commercial team, the Global Digital Product Development & Client Services team enables the growth of Sony Pictures digital content distribution through leadership and enhancement of the Digital Supply Chain, ensuring on-time and high-quality content deliveries, as well as the accurate execution of strategic initiatives via flexible, repeatable and scalable processes. Reporting to the SVP of Global Digital Product Development & Client Services, and leading a team, the Executive Director will lead global operations of the >$200MM yearly FEATURES EST/VOD business on a strategic and day to day level. Additionally, the Executive Director will lead, for the entire team: onboarding, metrics and documentation, reporting and measurement, materials recoup processes and order management.
As the expanding and dynamic digital marketplace continues to evolve rapidly, key criteria for success in this position will be willingness to embrace change and diversity of ideas as process, product and concepts roll out rapidly. Excellent communication skills are required to work effectively with technical, operational as well as commercial and creative stakeholders. Superior project management and organizational skills are required to balance the long-term, multi-year strategic goals of this position with the necessary granular, daily step-by-step progress. Passion for entertainment experienced digitally is also a key driver for this position as the Digital Supply Chain drives towards the future of entertainment for home consumers including 4k, Virtual Reality and many other new models of digital content distribution and consumption.
Responsibilities
• Lead and develop the team
• In partnership with SVP, and wider team, responsible for day to day execution and escalations for global Features workflow
• Create a new process for global Onboarding of new Retailers, new models, etc
• Define, document and disseminate scorecard, metrics and commercial use case reporting for key stakeholders
• Partner with Retailers on metrics, integrations, measures of success and commercially relevant use case definitions
• As part of the core team, lead development, adoption of emerging Digital Standards and Best Practices (ex, EIDR, EMA Avails, IMF, Common Media Manifest)
• Manage Features and Television workflow budgeting process, including costs recoup
• Continually stay up on new distribution technologies, processes and key industry players
• Educate and act as an advocate both internally and externally on basics, status and future of core business data automation and roadmap
• Develop lightweight & flexible framework for documentation of evolving business processes
• Leverage available and new tools and techniques to create visibility and measurement opportunities
• Prioritize long-term strategic responsibilities along with ad hoc projects or production priorities
• Continually enhance expertise on digital platforms and consumption - from supply chain, process, technology, practices, consumer experience and strategy
QUALIFICATIONS
• 5-10 years studio, media supply chain and/or Digital distribution experience
• Experience with Product or Project Management of large, matrixed programs or projects including formalized documentation and communication protocols
• Skilled communicator able to effectively work with different information styles – commercial, technical, creative, and operational.
• Able to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changes in priority and/or direction easily
• Flexible and adaptable with an appetite for implementing positive change
• Strong relationship builder
• Self-starter who proactively identifies and structures opportunities and projects
• Demonstrable comfort communicating with senior executive management internally and externally
• Deep knowledge of digital supply chain (Core AV assets, XML, video encoding, workflow management systems)
• Knowledge of current Digital Standards (EMA, Common Manifest, EIDR) and bonus for other standards such as IMF, MPEG-DASH, and other evolving core video standards
• Proven track record in systems development as business analyst
• Keen problem solving abilities
• Technical / software engineering skills a plus
