RedNova Learning, part of Macmillan Education, produces English as a foreign language (EFL) materials for students and teachers in Latin America, East Asia, and the Middle East.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Content Media Producer and Buyer to join our English Language Teaching (ELT) team in Palmetto Bay, FL, working on titles for K-6 and Secondary/Post-Secondary markets. This role will work closely with our publishing and design teams, providing vision and direction for the research and creation of the highest quality assets including images, audio and video.
Responsibilities
• Costing projects
• Advising on all aspects of image/footage acquisition or creation
• Managing freelance suppliers
• Researching and acquiring images/footage/audio from existing sources such as photo libraries, universities, tourist bureaus, corporate bodies and private collections
• Organizing and managing photo, video shoots, audio recording and production
• Securing reproduction rights on both researched and commissioned images/footage/audio and advising on copyright issues
• Keeping up to date on changes within IP law
• Liaising with the UK team regarding use of the in-house Image Bank (MARS)
• Any other duties that can reasonably be expected of you
Experience, skills, and qualifications
Essential:
• 5 years proven experience within a photo/media/audio research or rights department
• Experience negotiating and purchasing licensing terms for stock images, video clips, and audio clips and clearing other third party material (e.g. text for print and digital products, and sound effects for digital/audio products, etc.)
• Effective management of photo / video shoots, audio recording and production
• Experience negotiating with, briefing and managing external suppliers and freelancers
• Successful management of budgets and schedules with the ability to work creatively within tight budgets
• A strong understanding of copyright issues and law and experience with copyright clearance and photo/video footage/stock audio research knowledge
• Good understanding of Microsoft Office and the Internet as a research tool
• Excellent organizational skills and experience developing and implementing effective procedures and processes
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues based in the US and overseas at varying levels of seniority
• The ability to work under pressure, and to prioritize in a proactive manner
• Any other duties that can reasonably be expected of you
Desirable:
• Knowledge of educational book publishing
• Understanding of UK copyright issues and law
• Experience of Photoshop and film editing a plus
• Experience within a global environment
