The Fort Collins Coloradoan, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a digital- and social-savvy journalist to join its award-winning team as a full-time producer. The producer will make content publication-ready for mobile, desktop and print, optimizing across platforms.
The producer will also help in breaking news situations; shoot video and photos; program the Coloradoan’s social media platforms; and use metrics programs to determine which content readers are spending time with and to inform future strategy.
The perfect candidate must love social media and maintain an active presence on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit and Snapchat. The candidate must also have an eye for detail and a passion for digital storytelling — willing to experiment with new techniques such as interactive data visualization tools, messenger bots and more. They must thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy multitasking.

Your role:
• Quickly respond to breaking news on social media and our owned platforms, including through stories and video.
• Help reporters in multiplatform content generation, including creating video and interactive elements.
• Edit and optimize content for mobile, desktop, print, social media platforms
• Help with planning efforts across platforms
• Use metrics programs to make informed content decisions
• Experiment with new tools and presentation techniques
The hourly position may include night, weekend and holiday hours. Qualified candidates should have a degree in journalism or similar field.
