Manager, International Tax

Under the direction of the Director of Tax Provision & Compliance, the International Tax Manager is responsible for and focuses on the following areas:
1.) Supporting Tax Provision and Tax Reporting processes for the Company’s international business units;
2.) Completing research for international tax issues associated with proposed and completed business transactions;
3.) Modelling and calculations addressing international tax matters; and,
4.) Completing special projects associated with other tax issues. The position is based at Gannett’s Corporate Tax Department in McLean, Virginia.
Requirements:
• Supporting Tax Provision and Tax Reporting processes for the Company’s international business units
• Completing research for international tax issues associated with proposed and completed business transactions
• Modelling and calculations addressing international tax matters
• Answering tax authority inquiries and requests for information
• Completing special projects associated with other tax issues
• Coordinating and completing tax audit defense activities
• Assisting with International components of form 5471 and 1118 including coordinating data delivery and performing detailed review of the forms and work papers
• Periodically review IRC 956 positions and update earnings and profit calculations
• Assisting with oversight function of local country filings by third party providers
Responsibilities:
• B.S. in Accounting or similar degree
• CPA certification preferred
• Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5-7 years of tax services experience in either a tax services firm or a corporate tax department, with specific experience in the area of international income-based taxes
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, including strong Excel skills, along with experience in utilizing tax research software for multistate tax research, is required
• Strong interpersonal skills, including a team-focused approach
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet targeted deadlines for project completion
