The Lansing State Journal, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking an enterprise reporter to cover a broad array of issues in central Michigan and around the state. This reporter must be highly motivated, with a proven ability to report compelling stories that resonate with audiences. The successful candidate will be comfortable providing context to breaking news or diving deep for bigger picture, revelatory stories. He or she should be adept using digital reporting tools, knowledgeable about accessing public records, and able to analyze data to strengthen reporting. Video skills are a must. Our reporters use social media and LSJ events to connect with audiences and engage with the community.
Here’s what you need:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent
• At least three years of daily journalism experience.
• Ability to write clear, compelling articles that engage our audience and to enhance your work with video and other digital storytelling tools as appropriate.
• Understanding of social media and how to engage audience on digital platforms.
• Ability to multi-task and excel under deadline pressure, using time efficiently in a 24-hour newsroom.
• Skill at collaborating in a cross-functional environment and adapting in a rapidly changing industry.
