POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for oversight and direction of the Human Resources function for the New York City Region within Charter’s Field Operations team. This individual will lead all HR related activities for the Region’s 2500+ employees in a primarily unionized environment, while ensuring the achievement of Charter’s Business and HR strategic priorities. With a focus on Field operations, the VP, HRBP will be responsible for providing strategic HR leadership and consultation, focused on assessing and anticipating emerging business, organization, or people trends.
PURPOSE:
As a leader of HR professionals and key business partner, individual will implement and/or maintain a variety of human resources programs and policies, often encompassing several areas of human resources, including employee and labor relations, recruiting, training and safety. This position will handle complex employee relations issues which may have a high risk to Charter. The role will design solutions after partnering with Business Leaders and HR Centers of Expertise (COE) including: Payroll, Training and Development, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, and HR Operations to deliver HR programs and services with minimal input from more senior HR leadership.
POSITION RESPOSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
• Serve as the HR Business Partner to the New York City Field Operations leaders, supporting an employee population of 2500+ employees, while driving the achievement of the company’s strategic HR initiatives.
• Provide HR leadership and consultation focused on anticipating and assessing emerging business, organization or people trends, while also identifying needs and implementing the appropriate Human Resource/Diversity and Inclusion solutions.
• Execute strategies to increase organization, team, and individual performance in order to improve the business’s capabilities to deliver against its goals.
• Responsible for contributing to the development of the client’s HR budget as it relates to achieving the client’s people goals.
• Responsible for providing operational input to the client’s business decisions.
• Provide expertise in the areas of leadership and team development, and organization effectiveness, with a focus on building client capability.
• Overall responsibility for all HR functions in the NYC Field Ops region that includes full HRBP support, training and development, and recruiting.
• Provide HR leadership in support of the client’s employees in the assessment, development, and tactical implementation of HR programs using creative and innovative approaches and program designs.
• Provide consulting services to employees and management that include proactive programs and processes, as well as employee escalations.
• Manage business partner/employee portfolios, and regularly visit business partners and client groups throughout the New York City Region.
• Serve as a key communication link, in a highly matrixed environment, between management and employees.
• Maintain a culture and leadership climate aimed at positive and proactive employee relations.
• Understand and support the company’s goals and objectives.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Candidates must have significant experience supporting employees, leading HR teams and participating in contract negotiations in a unionized environment.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
• A Master’s degree and/or SPHR is preferred.
• Minimum of 15 + years’ Human Resources Business Partner experience or equivalent overall Human Resources experience that can translate into strategic HR capabilities at an HR Business Partner level is required.
• A minimum of 10+ year’s leadership experience managing and leading Senior HR professionals.
• Strong business acumen as an HR leader, with a demonstrated track record of HR experience helping the business achieve its goals.
• Able to establish and maintain strong business relationships, inclusive of demonstrating sound business judgment and be able to influence in order to get buy in and results.
• Able to successfully demonstrate Charter’s HR competencies of credibility, business acumen, operational prowess, and serving as a change agent, talent developer, and culture champion.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure, and meeting goals/deadlines is a must.
• Requires agility in dealing with instant changes in the organization and projects.
• Must be able to supervise remote teams of employees, and must be willing to travel around the NYC area.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are required.
