We are recruiting a Senior Designer who will be part of the Americas design team. You will oversee the development of compelling ideas and visuals for sales materials, content programs and promotional materials for The Economist Group and its offerings. You will report to the Global Creative Director, and will involve partnering with global teams across The Economist Group Media Businesses. This role is on the Economist Media Businesses Creative team, which is a part of Creative Strategy.
Accountabilities:
In the role you would be expected to:
• Provide day-to-day design and UX leadership for client programs, and deliver excellent creative work
• Have a strong creative vision and relentlessly elevate the output of the design team
• Quickly grasp and sublimate concepts and actively participate in brainstorms
• Work in a small creative team, this is a "hands on" designer role that requires the ability to manage freelancers and, occasionally, junior team members
• Be comfortable in a collaborative environment and synthesize varying viewpoints into workable design solutions
• Manage multiple projects
• Design and evaluate projects using sound digital principles and adher to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
• Manage and guide creatives and producers
• Identify and articulate strategic ideas and opportunities for The Economist Group, especially around technology and UX
• Be an active, visible thought leader in a creative field and elevate The Economist Group by affiliation
Experience, skills and professional attributes:
To succeed in this role you should have:
• Extensive experience in visual design or UX
• A solid understanding of UX principles and experience designing wireframes and prototypes
• Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent work experience in the fields of UX or visual design
• Strong creative and visual hands on design capabilities and typography design skills
• Ability to quickly develop visual concepts, mock-ups and prototypes
• Excellent communication skills, ability to express ideas clearly
• Some management experience
• A firm grasp of current trends in design, technology, media
• Expert knowledge of Creative Suite, typography, production
• Working knowledge of Keynote or PowerPoint
• Expertise in at least one of these: Copywriting, video editing, html 5, CSS, animation, managing and directing creatives
