POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Blackboard is seeking a talented Vice President of Global Field Marketing who will be responsible for successfully leading the company’s global field marketing organization.
Reporting to President of Global Field Organization, he/she will lead a global team and play a critical role in the leadership of the business. This VP will leverage his/her business acumen, technology expertise, and strategic marketing skills to build and manage a team that will support the growth objectives of our field teams while expanding our market presence, driving adoption and usage of our products and services and improving customer satisfaction, loyalty and retention.
This role requires an individual with strong leadership, stakeholder management and entrepreneurial skills who can evangelize a transformative vision for the company while driving demand and delivering a healthy pipeline. This leadership position will collaborate with and drive a strong team of passionate individuals who want to make a difference in education by working across functional areas, including corporate strategy, product teams and field organizations around the world.
The successful candidate will be an exceptionally strong and creative field marketing professional who can demonstrate past success driving global demand and creating dominant market positions for new and existing business-to-business technology products. This person will be adept at rigorously managing the pipeline and will be steeped in digital and social marketing practices.
Responsibilities will include:
• Lead and own the creation and execution of a go-to-market marketing plan for direct (and partner/channel sales as appropriate and as the business evolves)
• Define the targeted campaigns for the company and drive focused execution including promotional strategies and plans that drive growth and retention
• Lead the strategy and creation of content that will inform the spectrum of sales tools and collateral (PowerPoint presentations, datasheets, white papers, customer case studies, sales playbooks, demos, and training materials) to communicate the value proposition of Blackboards products, services and data capabilities for customers and partners globally.
• Analyze the sales cycle, channel mix and customer segmentation to formulate ideas and approaches to optimize the selling process across different customer segments and personas.
• Drive the creation and implementation of a robust go-to-market marketing plan to drive revenue, retention and brand awareness
• Build global marketing programs that are scalable and repeatable in support of rapid growth
• Manage, develop and coach a high-performing field marketing team deployed globally
• Develop the annual industry field marketing plan for the company.
• Translate strategic marketing plan into actionable quarterly targets, goals, initiatives and metrics
• Introduce new marketing ideas, channels and tactics to help scale the business
• Align marketing plan and execution with unique geographic market needs
• Execute offline and online event strategy that meet corporate and field objectives e.g. leads to Sales, awareness, advance major accounts, Industry/trade/User group, company and partner events
• Oversee all aspects of planning for all field campaigns and events, from concept and planning, through execution and follow-up
• Working to ensure successful lead capture/nurture and handoff to sales teams
• Maintain a 90-day rolling calendar of integrated activities including webinars, marketing campaigns and other programs
• Arm sales teams with tailored templates, emails, copy and presentation support to leverage in customer outreach and engagement
• Work with sales teams to create and execute both strategic and tactical campaigns such as call downs, email blasts etc. Align with product marketing team to ensure consistent branding and messaging, as well as differentiated offers based on buyer personas
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• At least 10-15 years of proven work experience with an ideal mix of strategic, technical (product management, technical marketing) and business (consulting, field marketing, sales, and/or channel) background
• BA/BS required
• Knowledge of and comfort working in an agile/cloud based business, understanding the changes in process and skills required to do so
• Deep experience leading a global field marketing organization at scale
• Ability to excel at creating marketing strategy and vision and seeing it through to successful execution
• Thrives operating in both left-brain and right-brain mode – ability to easily distill highly technical concepts into marketing messaging, vehicles and campaigns that are accessible, easily understood and creative
• Demonstrated ability to drive revenue through highly effective marketing and measured accountable results
• Exceptional leadership skills and proven ability to attract, develop and coach rock-star talent
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (internal and external)
• Steeped in digital and social marketing practices
• Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships across multiple departments and functions
PREFERRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:
• Higher education background, knowledge and experience preferred
• MBA desirable
