Job Description: Sr. Art Director, Storyful
Responsibilities:
• Takes responsibility to work with the existing New York Creative Brands team to deliver against client execution, meeting and exceeding Key Performance Indicators.
• Brainstorm conceptual directions using UGC at core, both independently and as part of an integrated team
• Translate words and ideas into high caliber conceptual designs that engage, enlighten and inspire the end user, maintaining campaign and brand continuity and interactive usability
• Develop a variety of creative materials for social campaigns, digital activations, and printed materials for agency clients. In addition, create assets for prospective client presentations, in-house communications, and anything else our clients or new business needs demand
• Ability to create 360 campaigns but with a digital expertise.
• Able to create ideas centralized on video production for both digital and broadcast.
• Collaborate with Executive Director of Creative, Creative Strategy Managers, Art Directors and Copywriters to revise work and refine concepts
• Lead group reviews of creative work, adding perspective and taking direction as needed
• Lead client, and internal creative review meetings, professionally presenting the department’s work, persuasively explaining design rationale to non designers, collecting and absorbing feedback and offering solutions in real time
• Leads all creative design work globally as directed by the EDC
• Guide other Art Directors/designers in the development of all skills relevant to their growth as professional designers
• Keep current on advertising campaigns, design trends, and industry technology, sharing findings with the department to facilitate new ways of thinking, working, and problem solving
• Ability to create clear mood boards that communicate conceptual and aesthetic direction of stories
• Ability to understand the editorial mission of a story and present creative solutions to help the reader
• Must be able to present ideas in an organized, professional, and effective manner
• Awareness of contemporary photographers and illustrators
• Collaborate with various disciplines to solve problems through stunning design
• Receive creative direction and design feedback fluidly and without trepidation
• Voice your opinion on style and aesthetic, while defending design decisions
• Create and manage assets, typography, logos and icons for multiple platforms
• Ability to succeed in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment
• Accurately estimate and track time through Toggl platform
• Maintain a keen eye on the design industry and technology on a global level
• Provide a strong voice in ideation sessions by leading any brainstorms
• Help to mentor and grow all Jr. Art Directors globally
• Communication and people skills with the ability to be flexible and collaborate effectively with editorial/production/news/viral/trends staff
• Create breathtaking presentations (PPT and KeyNote)
• Ability to develop ideas lead by insights and data (works closely with Insights and Strategy Analyst)
• Incorporate and/or explore client suggestions and directives, resolves questions and concerns, and oversees objections
• Responsible for managing creative workload and timelines
• Maintain awareness of brand budgets
Skills & Experience required:
• 8-10+ years relevant experience within creative, production, execution, events planning, media, brand agency environment or in-house creative studio
• Beautiful portfolio of compelling digital work
• Expert knowledge of digital communications and print production processes
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Mac OSX, InDesign, Illustrator, Keynote, Photoshop, Acrobat, PowerPoint and Word
• Ability to work on multiple projects at once and to meet deadlines on a daily basis in a team-oriented environment
• Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS
• Knowledge of how to create responsive design systems
• Strong understanding of grid, layout, typography and color
• Skill with prototyping tools (InVision, XD, etc.)
• Skill with Keynote and PowerPoint
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Skill with motion (After Effects, Animate) and 3D (Cinema 4D)
