About Technology
Our Technology team provides the essential digital products and services that underpins Pearson’s global portfolio of services and indeed technology is increasingly the way that our learners and educators will consume and absorb our learning capabilities in future. We have open and collaborative teams in place working to build efficient global platforms and scaling digital products to reach hundreds of millions of learners around the world, while delivering elastic, secure, data-driven services.
The Technology team also drives and coordinates how we work with technology partners to establish Pearson as a destination for innovation in education. Our aim is to ensure that our customers have access to more products and learning solutions in more regions while continually offering a high-quality user experience.
Technology Operations
Technology Operations designs, builds and operates the cloud, hosting and network capabilities that underpins and runs all digital products and enterprise technology within Pearson. The team also takes the operational lead in ensuring that Pearson’s core services perform at a world-class level for both customers and the internal business, and that our employees have access to the technology support services they need to carry out their work every day.

About the job
Job Purpose
To lead the transformation of the Pearson cloud platform and global network to establish truly global reach and access to millions of learners and educators.
To lead the design and delivery of hosting solutions that provide highly scalable and cost effective public and private cloud solutions for Pearson’s products, platforms and business services.
To lead the design and delivery of Pearson’s global network architecture spanning cloud, Pearson data centres and employee workplaces making it highly scalable, performant and cost effective.
Drive strategies which optimize our legacy data centres and service investment and enables scalable public/private cloud ways of working in delivering Pearson’s products and services. This includes data centre rationalization and enabling rapid software delivery through a Dev-Ops model which derive benefit from automated cloud capabilities and accelerating the pace of software and digital content delivery.
Lead a globally dispersed team of approximately 100 employees. Also ensure that Cloud and Network services are delivered to meet digital business service levels. Deliver programs within timelines and to budgetary envelopes.
Main Responsibilities
Define the architecture & strategy for Pearson’s Cloud investments and global network - Responsible for long term roadmap for these technology pillars and services, where investment priorities will be made and technology decisions on our go forward portfolio
Understand business strategies and align the Cloud Infrastructure and Global Network Platforms to facilitate business strategies, most particularly in accelerating the capacity and pace of the software delivery teams through the innovative use of the cloud platform.
Lead the architecture of Cloud Infrastructure Services and Global Network to deliver industry leading capacity and performance within agreed budgets and to achieve agreed service levels
Lead the implementation of Cloud Infrastructure Services to scope, budget, schedule and quality targets to meet business objectives
Ensure that Cloud Infrastructure and Global network comply with relevant security policies and standards
Be an evangelist for the Cloud Infrastructure Platform to our Digital Product teams within Pearson and third party development teams and support the digital platform strategy and Enterprise transformation ongoing within the company.

Qualifications
Essential skills, qualifications and experience
Has a strong technology vision for cloud and networks which delivers digital products to customers globally. This encompasses the future directions of these technologies.
Deep understanding of the role of cloud technology and network ecosystem in the acceleration of software and digital content delivery to market
Skills in supporting business transformation through the innovative use of cloud technology in a consumer facing environment
Experience of working collaboratively globally with product development and technology teams to find innovative ways of bringing products to market
Demonstrable evidence of leading a large successful global matrix team, contributing to business success and exceptional service delivery.
Excellent understand and experience of Cloud and Network architectures and capabilities and be able to lead teams to the right investment decisions and the associated exploitation of these investments for the benefit of Pearson and its customers
Excellent communication skills. Excellent written and spoken business English. Experience in multi-million $ operating and capital budget management. Strong commercial acumen and experience of managing large 3rd party vendors essential.
