Job Introduction
Creative Marketing brings to life BBC Northern Ireland’s on-air marketing messages through the design and production of TV, radio and digital promotional campaigns. Working with both local and national content the team’s role is to engage and excite our local audiences by showcasing the breadth and depth of BBC output and activity in Northern Ireland.
As part of BBC NI Marketing, Communications & Audiences, Creative Marketing aims to have the highest standards in innovation, creativity and production.
We are looking for a creative mind to come up with clear, brilliant and attention-grabbing ideas – and then realise those ideas through the production of radio marketing campaigns, trailers, sonic idents and digital/ social media marketing assets.
You will produce creative output for some of BBC NI’s flagship brands (including BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Foyle, BBC Sport NI, BBC News NI and local Television output).
In this role you will have a unique opportunity to work across a wide range of genres and help shape how our audiences discover the very best of our content.
Role Responsibility
This role will require you to work closely with colleagues from Creative Marketing, Brand Marketing, Media Planning, BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Radio Foyle to develop and produce creative output designed to promote and navigate audiences to key BBC services.
You will be working within existing brand strategies to produce broadcast-ready radio trails, sonic idents or digital/ social media marketing assets as required; as well as ensuring network originated campaigns are appropriately reversioned for local audiences.
In an editorial capacity you will be aware of the BBC’s Editorial Values and Guidelines and ensure that they are rigorously applied to each piece of content produced. You will ensure that the department’s compliance procedures are followed and that all relevant clearances and reporting commitments are met.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience of self-editing broadcast-ready short-form audio content of the highest creative and technical standards. You will have clear standards of quality for your finished work and understand how to construct a clear and concise audience appropriate message. You will also have experience of social media channels and how to appropriately use these channels for promotional purposes.
You will have experience of delivering content for radio or online or TV broadcast or have experience of working in the fields of advertising or content promotion.
You will be proficient in the use of digital audio editing and have a good working knowledge of radio production techniques, including directing contributors and writing scripts.
With a keen ear for detail you will be prepared to push creative boundaries and explore new forms of promotional innovation. You will be able to originate and present your own ideas but also be able to follow agreed briefs, to amend existing ideas and to respond to changing needs with enthusiasm and flexibility.
You will be able to work collaboratively with a wide-range of colleagues, editorial teams, stakeholders and external providers while keeping audience needs at the very heart of your work. Creative resilience, proactivity and good communication skills will all be necessary to flourish in this role.
You must be able to show a passion for producing large volumes of creative work and have an excellent grasp of how to tailor your work for differing audiences, as well as demonstrating knowledge of BBC NI’s content, output and activities and how they influence BBC NI’s brand and promotional strategies.
