Position: News Acquisitions Editor, Bel Media, Unifor 87M
Status: Regular - Part-Time
Location: London, Ontario
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experoiences.
Work conditions: Maximum 24 hours per week. Days, Evenings, Overnight & Weekends. Overtime as required.
Responsibilities:
• Create newscast graphics and operate Inscriber character generator live to air
• Dub and edit raw material and finished news stories to produce compelling visuals for television viewers. And great audio for radio listeners
• Operate studio audio mixing consoles for live and recorded productions as per established control room practices and broadcast standards
• Send and record news feeds and programming as required
• Maintain recognized broadcast technical and editorial standards
• Organize video for programs in a multi-show environment
• File and retrieve archival material
• Assess priorities and allot available facilities accordingly
• Monitor Environment Canada weather alerts and insert on- air weather warnings as required
• Operate prompter, time programs and program segments, and perform other control room and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Graduate of a community college broadcasting course or equivalent
• Minimum of one year's experience in television broadcasting
• Demonstrated ability to organize material, meet deadlines and work accurately
• Excellent communication Skills, both oral and written (grammar and spelling)
• Demonstrate artistic aptitude – exceptional sense of design
• Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
• Training in and working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and After Effects is an asset
• Working knowledge of broadcast audio mixing, terminology and concepts
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
