Senior Research Analyst, EMEA, Sony Pictures Television

Sony Pictures Television’s EMEA research team currently has an opportunity for aSenior Research Analyst, to join their London based team.
Supporting the EMEA TV Distribution and Production team, the Senior Research Analyst will be responsible for providing analysis and reports on the performance of Sony Pictures Television and competitor content in the EMEA region.
Working as part of the EMEA research team this role will use TV ratings data and a broad range of TV market and business intelligence sources to support a number of internal stakeholders to inform business strategies and client relationships
Increasingly the role will also incorporate the analysis of digital insights - tracking OTT and non linear content trends from subscribed secondary sources.
Ideal candidates will have an inquisitive mind and genuine interest in media research, TV content or media industries. They will possess a broad understanding of how to meaningfully measure the performance of content on different platforms (primarily Free-to-Air, Pay-TV and Premium channels). An ability to synthesize or create a story beyond data points to illustrate relevant information and contextualize performance would be desirable
Core Responsibilities will include:
• Support analysis of the performance of various content, including TV series, theatrical films and local formats across the EMEA region. Explore and develop stories that competitively position Sony product to support sales and business activities
• Support the compilation and distribution of various weekly and monthly research reports to inform internal stakeholders on the objective performance of key content (i.e. series premieres, flagship series in major markets or on key channels, end of seasons I full series overviews).
• Help create and develop sales presentations and one sheets for key trade market events (MIPCOM, MIPTV, NATPE, LA Screenings) and other client meetings.
• Utilizing ratings software systems (TechEdge and EMS) to prepare multi-territory presentations which incorporate data from different data sources. Handling the formatting, distribution and analysis of data.
• Monitor the competitive marketplace for both new and returning series. Keep abreast of industry trends and news from various sources and sharing this intelligence both within the research group and wider teams.
• Synthesize and communicate insights from market reports and business intelligence from our various suppliers such as - IHS, Future Source, Eurodata I Mediametrie , C21 Media etc.
Successful candidates must have and/or demonstrate:
Education
BA/BS degree required
Knowledge/Skills
• Must have Experience of working with and knowledge of TV ratings software systems.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills; comfortable with data, charts and industry reports.
• Strong aptitude for media data analysis, concise writing skills, creative thinking and presentation style.
• An ability to organize, visualize and interpret data and to tell a story with the outputs both in person and in Presentation format
• Must possess fine attention to detail, accuracy and ability to analyze figures and identify trends
• Strategic thinker with a strong reflex to sense-check the work and question the data when something doesn't look right.
• Must have a solid grasp of Excel and Power Point
• Ideally be willing to experiment with different data layouts, charts and new reports formats when opportunities arise rather than being comfortable in replicating existing practices.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment; flexibility to easily adapt to altering priorities .
• Works well in the team environment, but is independently reliable and efficient (self-starter and proactive).
• Ability to spearhead a project, troubleshoot and manage it through to completion .
• Ability to manage expectations, inform and provide insights and recommendations to a larger internal team - can make suggestions or challenge the status quo on delivery whenever necessary.
• Positive thinker - willing to learn quickly from mistakes and striving to improve.
• Keen interest in what drives consumer behavior or the ability to speak other languages are a plus.
• International outlook.
Work Experience
Relevant experience in TV research (typically 3 years +), throughout the major markets/territories of EMEA. Ideally with an international broadcaster or studio, major local channel, media, research or TV business intelligence agencies.
