We are seeking a full-time Visual Designer 1 at our world headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and producing basic icons, interface designs, and other graphical needs primarily supporting Garmin market segments. Other essential functions include:
• Working with guidance from a mentor or team leader, creates basic images such as icons, fonts, graphical themes, and other digital artwork for Garmin deliverables using programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Powerpoint, and other programs in Adobe’s Creative Suite.
• Learns and applies basic imaging standards, guidelines, and processes in the planning and execution of basic imaging projects
• Catalogs icons, fonts, and other graphics for future use and continuity of design
• Works closely with others to create concept presentations and graphics for deliverables
• Ensures continuity of corporate/department image in graphics
• Proactively seeks, applies, shares, and retains detailed information required for success
• Applies critical thinking skills in identification and resolution of basic issues
• Maintains reliable and predictable attendance
• Effectively manages tasks and priorities for overlapping project and meets deadlines in a consistent, complete, and accurate manner
Qualifications
Qualified candidates possess an Associate’s degree in graphic design/visual communication or related field or a minimum of 2 years equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements include:
• Must have submitted an online portfolio demonstrating a strong graphic design background in order to be considered
• Must have strong illustration skills
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply basic graphic standards, guidelines and processes
• Demonstrates a proficient understanding of imaging formats, quality factors, and output-related information
• Demonstrated proficiency using Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
• Ability to learn and apply appropriate requirements, standards, processes, procedures, tools, and technologies
• Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
A Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design/visual communication or another related field and previous experience in Visual Communications or Graphic Design is highly preferred!
