Job Title
Creative Director - Family Circle Editorial
The Creative Director will be the creative visionary and keeper for the overall image, look, aesthetics, styling and visual identity of the brand across all products/platforms. In addition to overseeing all graphic design, photography and illustration, the Creative Director's role will be to push his or her team to elevate the brand look so that it is top-of-the-industry quality with modern design, fresh styling, innovative photography, and approaches that appeal to today's consumers and marketers. Working closely with the Editor-in-Chief, the Creative Director will oversee the art staff as well as facilitate overall team building and collaboration among both the visual and editorial teams. He or she will work with the EIC to develop a well-thought-out process that produces consistent results. Other responsibilities will include:
• Works closely with editors and Photo Director to conceptualize, research and plan visuals for the magazine in print and online
• Manages the art/photo budget in consultation with photo editor, managing editor and EIC
• Manages, directs and mentors art department staff.
• Oversees daily workflow and layout releases
• Works with photo/edit/production staff to meet all production and shipping deadlines
• Works with pre-press vendor to review color correction
• Works with production and art depts. to ensure quality control on designs

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years’ experience in print design. Previous supervisory experience running a creative department required.

Ability to manage a diverse team
Strong leadership skills
Sophisticated sense of design, photography, and typography
Broad knowledge of photographers, stylists, crafters and illustrators
Photo shoot experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work in well in a deadline-driven, collaborative environment
Strong interest in content matter (food, health, home, style/beauty,
Adept with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Woodwing
Web/Interactive Design experience a plus
% Travel Required (Approximate): 5%
