Main activities/responsibilities:
• Complete the processing of all technical responsibilities (see below) in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
• Contribute to team effort and assist co-workers as needed to balance workloads
• Help to create a work atmosphere conducive to a high degree of integrity and teamwork
• Maintain customer satisfaction by promptly following up on customers’ requests for information
• Ensure performance targets are met and service is delivered to end users as expected
• Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and innovative solutions and communicate these to the Lead Analyst
• Take proactive involvement in determining and implementing best practices
Technical activities/responsibilities:
• Support the Project Accounting module and processes from a Finance perspective, ensuring that the correct accounting processes are communicated and understood
• Work with the Global Capability Lead (GCL) for Project Accounting to implement and enforce the global design for the system and processes relating to Project Accounting
• Engage with the Technology, BPO and finance teams to understand and resolve issues, incidents and Change Requests. Ensure that the requirements of various finance stakeholder groups are represented to the technical teams, and met in the resolution
• Work with the GCL to identify and develop enhancements and improvements to the Project Accounting module and processes from a Finance perspective
• Provide training and FAQ for Project Accounting to ensure improve Finance user understanding to help improve adoption and appropriate usage of the Oracle Projects module
• Work with the Project Accounting user community, particularly within PFS, to improve standardisation and consistency of processes across teams.
• Document accounting processes for Projects, ensuring these are accurate and up-to-date
• Lead on reviewing, setting and agreeing Internal Labour rates, process performed twice yearly
• Take ownership for the documentation and testing of key SarbOx controls around Project Accounting
Expected results:
• Improved understanding and consistent adoption of Project Accounting system and processes, particularly in the PFS teams.
• Process enhancements and improvements identified and supported through to delivery.
• Strong working relationships with Project Accounting users in Finance community
• Development of documentation on Project Accounting processes and systems, and provision of guidance and training to PFS Project Accounting teams
• Delivery of both project aspect of role, and core periodic tasks (rate updates and Sox)
Qualifications and experience required:
• Part qualified accountant with relevant experience in:
◦ Oracle Projects module, Oracle or similar systems accounting
◦ Stakeholder management
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with both finance and non-finance professionals, and with senior stakeholders
• Experience of working within a large organisation
• Competent user of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel (v-lookups, sum-ifs, pivot tables etc.)
• A strong self-starter who is motivated to work under own initiative when required
• Ability to work as part of a team, identifying and providing support to colleagues
