SUMMARY
Spectrum News currently seeks an Executive Producer for their In Focus public affairs programs based out of the El Segundo, CA facility. This position is responsible for supervising and producing four weekly shows, including editorial content, look and accuracy of stories under the direction of the News Director.
Schedule: Varies according to shift. Requires day, night, weekend, and on-call availability, especially during inclement weather. May work some holidays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervises on-air product, including editorial content, graphic look and continuity. Generates daily and future story and coverage ideas. Select stories for coverage and manage editorial product in conjunction with News Anchors. Oversees line-up of programs and makes changes as necessary. Edits, critiques and approves scripts.
• Writes scripts, provides background for interviews, and coordinates changes in coverage. Assigns editing and graphics responsibilities to Spectrum News staff.
• Produces news specials and organizes and delegates assignments.
• Manages editorial workgroup scheduling, performance reviews and approves request for time off. Approves timesheets.
• Provides feedback to direct reports including regular critiques.
• Delivers annual performance evaluations to direct reports.
• Assists in managing budgetary responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field is preferred.
• 4-6 years of leadership and content management preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated ability for effective teamwork and attention to detail.
• Must be detail oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
• Must work well under pressure and have excellent problem solving skills.
• Responsible for maintaining thorough knowledge of current events, societal trends and general news topic of interest to Spectrum News viewers.
• General understanding and appreciation for the tenets of journalism and television news gathering.
