Two of the biggest food brands on Earth are looking for a savvy commerce editor who can drive e-commerce activity while also creating shoppable and engaging editorial content. At heart, you’re a writer and editor, willing to produce stories across two brands and work collaboratively with a number of different stakeholders, ranging from photo to audience development.
Responsibilities include:
• Writing, editing, and/or refreshing a slate of weekly commerce content, with upwards of 15 stories a week across both Bon Appétit and Epicurious.
• Creating a managing a long-term commerce editorial calendar.
• Managing part-time freelance help and a content budget to help meet both content-production and revenue goals.
• Helping identify editorial categories that present commerce opportunities by studying purchasing data, tracking site analytics, performing a competitive analysis of comparable sites, and researching trends in the food and food-related space.
• Merchandising the site, newsletters, and social channels so that great product is prominently featured and promoted.
• Helping inform site design and UX to support our consumer revenue business strategy.
• Gathering, analyzing and disseminating consumer purchasing data, both quantitative (sales revenue) and qualitative (user satisfaction with our product recommendations.)
• Working with our food, photo, and editorial teams to ensure that promoted products are on trend and on-brand
• Partnering with existing affiliate link partners to optimize revenue opportunities, while working directly with retailers (possibly through client leads on advertising side) to develop partner direct relationships
• Applying SEO best practices to commerce-driven posts.
Qualifications:
The perfect candidate has used data and analytics to optimize revenue generation, but has a keen eye and knows how to curate the perfect products for avid home cooks. Experience in the commerce-focused editorial is a must.
• 3+ years managing commerce activities at a digital property (either editorial or commerce.)
• Demonstrated mastery of purchasing data and site analytics.
• Familiarity with the process of producing photo and video shoots for product content.
• Experience working closely and collaboratively with editorial, food, advertising, engineering, photo and design teams
• Familiarity with UX best practices, user testing, and reader surveys.
• Strong organizational skills, a self-directed work style, and polished communication skills.
• The ideal candidate loves cooking and is familiar with kitchen tools and other gizmos. You can love eating, too. We tend to have delicious food around.
