KCPQ-TV, the Tribune owned FOX affiliate in Seattle WA has an immediate opening for the position of Assignment Editor/Story Producer. This is not a traditional TV news assignment editor position. We're looking for someone who is both a logistics wizard and a storyteller who is relentless in sourcing new information and writing content with context for digital platforms. Part of the day you’ll collaborate with reporters and photographers on daily assignments, monitor social media and scanners for breaking news and talk to local sources to ensure the newsroom has a variety of stories to choose from. The other part of the day you’ll produce original content that is relevant in the moment and written in a conversational style.

Responsibilities:
• Plans and assigns the news stories of the day and large news event coverage.
• Reviews all news releases, monitors police and fire scanners, and monitors online news sources for story ideas.
• Writes breaking news alerts and posts
• Contacts news management in the event of significant breaking news that requires additional resources or would require interrupting regular programming.
• Produces original content (text and visual) for digital, mobile and social platforms including Q13FOX.com, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in journalism/communications or equivalent experience in the field.
• 1-3 years web/newsroom experience.
• Strong communication skills, conflict management and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational skills in a fast paced environment and deadline driven environment.
• Requires sound news judgment, the ability to work under tight deadlines and in stressful situations.
• Experience writing posts for digital-mobile-social platforms.
• Working knowledge of online CMS software.
• Video and photo-editing skills.
• The ability to work a flexible schedule.
