Position Summary (Intent and purpose of the job)
Supporting the HR Manager, the HR Business Partner role at ILM leads the day to day people management agenda working in partnership with all managers to drive the highest levels of employee performance, supporting a client group of circa 600 employees.
With an active interest in evolving employment law and an excellent understanding of what it is we do, keeps the business informed of changes ensuring ILM people practices are compliant and relevant. Has oversight of activities and actively mentors junior members of the HR team.
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities (Key duties or essential priorities for fulfilling the job’s purpose)
• A key focus of this role is to understand how the business operates. Through strong relationships with managers, gleans information about what’s going on in the business and through the application of commercial thinking, provides the managers with pragmatic and informed HR solutions and ideas which meet both the business need and wider/global people agenda.
• As a key source of expertise, acts as the first point of contact for all employee relations queries from line managers and employees alike. Advise on process and procedure. Keeps HR Manager informed and escalates complexities as required.
• Through regular HR business partnering meetings, developing collaborative and trusted relationships with managers to support managers in the effective performance management of their employees acting as a performance improvement driver and promoting positive change in people management.
• Manages all employee relations investigations and 1st stage formal meetings escalating more complex employee relations issues and 2 nd stage formal meetings to HR Manager.
• Takes responsibility for the employee relations case list, proactively ensuring that HR Manager and relevant Senior Manager are kept briefed on progress and status.
• Supports employee engagement through taking and following through on actions raised through the Employee Forum.
• Supports HR Manager in the delivery of the annual performance and merit review process.
• Picks up on employee temperature, regularly communicating back to the Senior Management team with employee trends with recommendations to improve employee relations, engagement and performance etc.
• Works with line managers and the training team to make recommendations for the training and development of employees.
• Supports the HR Manager in the proactive People Projects meetings with EIC and Senior Managers to encourage best practice and develop ILMs people practices for the studio.
General Responsibilities
• With an active interest in employment law, keep abreast of all legislation changes reporting back to HR Manager and the business how this may impact ILM and instigate changes that need to happen to ensure that ILM’s people practices remain compliant and relevant, e.g. policy updates, process and practice changes.
• Take full responsibility for the job descriptions creation and comping process, working closely with SF colleagues as required.
• Take responsibility for maintaining headcount tracking day to day for London, working closely with SF colleagues to report back.
• Support the delivery of a high performing HR service through actively mentoring and developing junior HR team members through demonstrating best practice.
• Work collaboratively with other HR functions, e.g. Recruitment, Training etc., to support their initiatives and actively promote the services of the whole department.
• Manage complex HR projects, cross-functionally as required.
• Support HR team in delivery of weekly new-starter orientation programme as needed.
• Actively get involved in the organisation of studio wide initiatives and events as required.
• Works closely with global HR partners to build relationships, provide information and encourage global HR connection and thinking.
• Deputise for HR Manager responsibilities in absence.
Requirements:
Education / Experience:
• Educated to degree level in an HR or Business related degree
• Previous HR Business Partnering experience
• Proven experience of working within a fast-paced creative industry
• Previous experience of arranging visas for the UK
• Fully CIPD qualified or Chartered CIPD

Preferred Skills / Competencies:
• Experience of working within a US parent organisation beneficial.
Technical Skills:

◦ Accurate typing skills.
◦ Experience of SAP preferred.
