Treasure Coast Newspapers and TCPalm.com, part of the USA Today Network, seeks a multimedia journalist to cover politics, elections and state/federal news of particular local an regional interest, focusing on Florida’s legislative and congressional delegations. There's a strong focus on the ever-exciting swing District 18 and water policy.
The ideal candidate can quickly and independently separate the political wheat from the chaff and immediately post newsworthy stories; promote them on social media; update them throughout the day; produce complementary videos and/or other digital elements; then further develop different angles into analytical and/or enterprise stories that explain the effect on a mainstream audience.
The ideal candidate is also a rabid watchdog who fact-checks and investigates politicians by digging into public records and using spreadsheets and databases to mine for information. This reporter must become an expert and comport themselves well in public interviews and appearances on TV, Facebook Live and community forums.
The ideal candidate is a leader who thinks like an editor and can plan, manage and execute newsroom-wide initiatives such as elections coverage. A competitive, four-platform approach and mobile-first focus is as essential as the ability to produce original and exclusive content. This reporter must monitor their content’s analytics to grow audience and engagement. We’re looking for innovative thinkers who can tell stories in unorthodox ways.

writing. Experience as a politics reporter, being fluent in Spanish and having additional education in subjects such as finance and political science are a
