Sr Director, Video Products - Spectrum Guide
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for driving Charter performance and customer satisfaction of a highly visible product by directing all Video Product aspects of Charter’s next-gen, interactive guide customer experience and user interface development on the digital set-top box. With a small team of direct reports, develops and defines business requirements and implements the product strategy, partnering cross-functionally with development, integration, and test teams. Manage/champion the video roadmap and identify opportunities for improvements via analysis of usage, health and Charter employee-facing personnel and customer feedback for installed video base. Drives collaboration with Software Engineering, Advanced Engineering, User Experience and Front End development teams, as well as third-party vendors, Network Operations, Customer Operations and Finance.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to release new and existing products that simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Drives the product roadmap and evolution of Charter’s next-gen interactive guide, Spectrum Guide. A strong leader that secures buy-in and partnership from cross-functional development and customer engagement teams.
Using Agile software development processes, defines and manages development and implementation of product requirements; sets work priority for a complex matrix of teams via detailed backlog management.
Digests technical and architectural detail in order to understand dependencies and implications of product decisions. Integrates with technical and operational teams, working closely with Software Engineering, Advanced Engineering, Video Operations and other departments.
Accountable to secure the best possible user experience in advance of production deployment via oversight of defect review and integration into QA and Integration testing processes, working with Deployment teams to confirm readiness for market launches.
Explores and identifies product enhancements/improvements that generate increase customer engagement, satisfaction and market penetration for the video product.
Establishes interactive and progressive relationships with third-party vendors to direct strategy and implementation, and hold accountable to reach Charter goals in expected timeframes
Uses analytics of product health and performance, as well as customer usage and feedback to inform product changes and direct decisions. Determines key performance indicators
Owns the integration of Spectrum Guides with mobile and web platforms, securing a unified cross- platform experience with only thoughtful and intentional variations.
Assist with management of a large capital budget.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Strong knowledge of cable and telecommunications products, services and technology
Strong knowledge of and experience with legacy and cloud video platforms, including IPG, CPE, VOD and Applications
Education
BS/BA in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science
MBA is preferred, but not required
Related Work Experience Number of Years
Experience is leading product management, product development or engineering 7-10
High level of experience working in the cable or telecommunications industry 5-7
Experience introducing new software to customers 4-5
Experience managing and enhancing commercially launched products 4-5
Management of direct reports/staff 7-10
Agile software development experience from scrum master or product owner perspective 4-5
Experience in developing and managing interactive program guides
