Overview and Responsibilities
The Viacom Media Networks’ Business Development group is a centralized team with the mission to create partnerships for Viacom’s brands. The team focuses on partnerships to drive awareness, viewership and monetization of Viacom programming and brands on digital and social platforms. As such, the team is currently organized into 2 working groups: Fan Platforms (social media-focused) and Video Distribution (apps and ad-supported syndication) who leverage the power of the digital platforms that amplify our brands’ stories to create meaningful partnerships. We are currently seeking a Senior Vice President to lead the team.
Reporting to the EVP, Head of Distribution and Business Development, the SVP will be responsible for identifying, securing and maintaining partnerships for ad supported video and new media content including social media platforms, content syndication networks, destination portals, application platforms and other emerging digital partners, as well as managing ongoing relationships with such partners. As part of Viacom’s centralized Distribution and Business Development team, the position also will work in close partnership with internal groups (Marketing Strategy & Engagement, Ad Sales, Programming, Brand Consumer Marketing, Product, Corporate Development, Business and Legal Affairs) to create and execute initiatives to enhance distribution and drive reach and revenue.
Responsibilities

• Create the strategy and workflow for the team, with attention to the ever shifting world of digital, evolving the work along the way
• Lead all communication to key business units at Viacom, seeking input from numerous key stakeholders and ensuring that all constituents are briefed on partnerships as they are being cultivated, and as they grow and evolve
• Work in partnership with Ad Sales to create digital monetization opportunities, working towards an annual goal
• Subject matter expert on the digital ecosystem, guiding the creation of a unified internal POV on potential partners and opportunities
• Evaluate and provide strategic perspective on new technologies, trends, business models and opportunities, and lead the team in the creation of work product to support the company in learning about new models
• Identify, develop and pursue new digital distribution opportunities
• Structure deal terms, negotiate and manage deals with existing and new partners
• Develop and maintain relationships with top leadership at current and potential partners
• Collaborate with key internal teams
Basic Qualifications
• 12+ years of experience working in media business development or digital distribution role
• Bachelor’s degree required, JD or MBA preferred.
Additional Qualifications
• Optimal to have pre-existing senior-level relationships with key digital/social platforms; relationships with the start-up and venture capital community a plus
• Demonstrated expertise within the digital media landscape; general understanding of technical backend of digital landscape
• Strong understanding of the advertising business, in particular on digital platforms (e.g., ad serving technologies, sales strategies and key performance metrics, etc.)
• Self starter who will aggressively advance the team’s business goals
• Proven team management skills
• Strong negotiation & contract skills a must
• Proven ability to think creatively and strategically while handling complex issues
• Industry leader who is passionate about predicting what is next and how to accelerate and maximize Via-com’s participation in digital media
• Exceptional people skills – including written and communications skills required to build and maintain excellent client & internal relationships
• Outstanding interpersonal capabilities and ability to interface with all levels of an organization and navigate various dynamics
