Vice President, Strategy and Operations, Mtv & Vh1
Overview and Responsibilities
MTV/VH1 is seeking a Vice President in Strategy and Operations to assist the Executive Vice President, Programming, Strategy & Operations in developing long term business decisions and resource allocations working across all departments and lines of business.
This position reports to the Executive Vice President, Strategy & Operations with a dotted line to the President of MTV/VH1 and the COO of Viacom International Media Networks. This role will work closely with the senior level team members all across the Global Entertainment Group and Viacom. This executive will oversee operations and revenue generating functions through matrixed leadership including Ad Sales, Finance, Business Affairs, Human Resources, Production Management, Original Programming and Business Development.
Responsibilities
(1) Assume leadership for Strategy and Operations functions –develop and drive overall strategic direction for MTV/VH1
• Work closely with channel leadership to develop best business planning for short and long term goals
• Evolve early stage ideas into future growth-initiatives, with a focus on developing diversified revenue streams
• Partner with other non-Cluster internal teams (e.g., Ad Sales, Multiplatform Product, Business Development, etc.) to develop comprehensive strategy and execution plans related to short and long term business initiatives
• Track and update the senior team on content environment, changes and competitive opportunities
• Monitor day-to-day planning and business operations, assisting leadership in resource allocations and strategy across all departments and lines of business
(2) Assume leadership for the Business Development role in driving inorganic opportunities
• Identify, review and evaluate key partnerships to deliver on strategic goals; actively explore all options, select the best potentials and build the strategy around them
(3) Significant contributor to budget and other presentations
• Develop overall narrative, strategic story and objectives for budget presentation
• Partner with finance to review submissions and assess financial growth and performance
• Contribute to drafting and production process of budget presentation materials
• Contribute to other ad-hoc presentations as required by management
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree; MBA preferred
• 10+ years of experience with a preference for candidates with consulting and banking backgrounds
• Exposure to media/entertainment or related fields required
