The Reporter-News is looking for an energetic photojournalist who can cover some of the most visually captivating stories in Abilene and West Central Texas.
We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable shooting a Friday night football game one day and writing a short feature to accompany a standalone photo package or video on another. Can you tweet your best shot from the scene of a two-alarm fire? Can you tell a great visual story with video? Then this is the place for you. Our aim is to give readers top-notch visuals with our award-winning coverage across multiple platforms -- online, print and social media. A wealth of visual storytelling gives readers more chances to experience the story as no one else can.
The successful candidate should expect to use all of the visual and interactive storytelling tools available at the Reporter-News. Previous daily news experience is preferred, with photos showing versatility of abilities. Experience with DSLR cameras, iPhone video preferred.

Abilene is a growing city of about 120,000 situated on the eastern edge of West Texas, just over two hours from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It is home to three private, church-related universities, Dyess Air Force Base and a variety of cultural activities. Interest in football is high and the cost of living is low. The Reporter-News is the oldest business in town, covering news and sports in the city and small towns in the surrounding area.
