Senior Manager, Product Marketing – Student Lifecycle Services

The Product Marketing leader for Student Lifecycle Services is responsible for helping define and positioning client needs as they pertain to student services, enrollment management, and marketing services. This person will own the messaging platform for these solutions as well as the go-to-market process with the ultimate goal of growing this area of the business. Essential to the success of this position is an understanding of Higher Education with a particular focus on administrative functions such as Enrollment Management and Student Support. Within Blackboard, s/he will be responsible for driving solution marketing activities through campaign development and coordination across multiple departments. This person must also be able to understand Blackboard capabilities and go-to-market processes, working closely with Blackboard Sales teams, Field Marketing, and Operations.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Product Marketing is responsible defining, implementing and managing the process for building sales and marketing assets to support a high growth are of the Blackboard business. This will include development, implementing a refining a strategy and support process for product marketing within Student Lifecycle Services. Since this is an individual contributor role there will be a strong mix of strategy and delivery responsibilities.
Market Definition
• Assess and understand the buyer persona(s) related to these solutions including needs, motivations, behaviors, attitudes, and buying processes
• Research and define the challenges faced by these personas
• Create and refine a messaging platform that offers unique positioning in response tobuyer type and sales stage
• Work collaboratively with Sales executives and Subject Matter Experts to evolve the buyer personas as market needs shift
• Research industry trends, competitive products and other factors that shape solutions
• Develop positioning and messaging platforms which differentiate Blackboard from the competition
Sales Support
• Support integrated marketing campaigns based market needs and preferences
• Work collaboratively with Field Marketing in the execution of campaign tactics
• Oversee the development and delivery of client-facing collateral/resources, field training, and sales enablement tools
• Support team participation in industry events through audience generation, event registration campaigns, on-site marketing and session content
• Champion content development including blog articles, public relations/media, digital PR, and collateral (white papers, case studies, proposal templates)
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required; Business and/or Marketing highly preferred
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of Product Marketing experience in Education or Services
• Experience with the Higher Education market required. Prior experience in Higher Ed Marketing, Enrollment, Admissions, Registration, or Student Services highly preferred
• Experience using a solution selling or a pragmatic marketing framework
• Strong analytical skills with a proven record of strategic data-driven process improvements
• Outstanding project management and coordination skills with ability to track simultaneous projects and initiatives
• Comfortable researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting data
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
• Independent, self-starter with strong prioritization skills; and ability to excel in a fluid, cross-functional team environment
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time making trips to support conferences and meetings at contact center locations in Kentucky, Texas and South Carolina
• Effective oral and written communication skills along with the ability to work with employees of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
• Ability to consistently perform under the pressure of deadlines and other administrative demands
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, collaborative, flexible environment
