Description
Senior Product Manager for Security & Platform - Shotgun Production Software
Location: One Market St., San Francisco
Senior Product Manager for Shotgun Platform
Shotgun is for teams that produce media. It is business critical for over 1000 of the world’s greatest studios in Film, TV, and Games (with early growth in other industries such as Automotive Design). It is used to manage some of the most demanding creative projects, with thousands of digital artists, in multiple countries, operating 24/7, sometimes in different companies, working on fast changing productions that are being constantly planned and replanned. Our clients bring some of the most amazing stories to life (check out some of their work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0X2KlFmoSyE). Shotgun helps them plan, schedule, manage, track and stay organized. It also helps them communicate and collaborate around the media they are producing. (You can read more about how our clients use Shotgun here https://www.shotgunsoftware.com/client-stories/).
Our clients build their business on top of Shotgun and rely upon it every minute of every day to organize their work. Shotgun stops, their work stops. They also trust Shotgun with high value intellectual property – the final episode of the blockbuster TV series, the latest film sequel, the multi-million dollar game that has been years in the making. Security, performance, and reliability are the foundation of Shotgun. We are looking for an experienced senior product manager to lead this area, to define our strategy and to prioritize our investments. You will own this area all the way through to execution in partnership with our core engineering teams.
The role has tremendous growth potential. It will start with taking ownership of the immediate agenda around security for Shotgun (e.g. SOC2, 2FA, watermarking) and performance (e.g. large-scale customers, on-prem and hosted, with huge numbers of events and scripts). Over time there will be opportunities to create a wider role both within Shotgun and the whole Autodesk Media and Entertainment division (for which Shotgun is the chosen platform). As some examples, we see the opportunity to get involved in how Shotgun (i) works with on-demand cloud services, such as the rendering of massive graphics files, (ii) supports distributed production across global multi-site organizations and projects, with data and media moving around while staying in sync, (iii) aligns with other very successful Autodesk cloud platforms around issues such as identity, or (iv) collaborates with major commissioning studios, that outsource to our smaller clients, to help define security guidelines and audits for the whole industry.
If you are a Product Manager that wants to define and own everything we offer in this area, then we’d like to hear from you. You would be joining a team of passionate Product Managers based in our offices in LA, San Francisco, London and Montreal. Our preferred location for this role is San Francisco; an alternative location is Montreal.
Shotgun is part of Autodesk - the company that makes software for people who make things – giving us the backing to continue our rapid growth as the global market leader in media production. Shotgun is part of the cloud based products and services from Autodesk which are trusted by companies to provide mission-critical services at large-scale for high-value content.
What we are looking for:
• An experienced senior product manager - someone who has at least 5 years experience in product management in software applications and services
• Especially experienced in product management of Software as a Service products and, in particular, backend technologies
• With strong expertise in product management for security, performance and reliability
• With immediate knowledge of security topics such as SOC2 gap analysis, Incident Detection, Intrusion Detection, Vulnerability Tests, and Threat Modelling
• Good technical knowledge - but this role is a Product Management role not a Tech Lead (or Project Manager) role
• That thrives on owning an entire product area, can create product strategy, define and deliver new product offerings
• With the ability to gather, validate and assess business requirements and make critical judgements of how requirements might or might not apply to our industry and product
• With a track record of ‘leading from the front’, with agile dev teams, to ship awesome products
• With the ablity to speak to a broad range of audiences about security priorities
• With a passion for delivering a platform that large parts of the media industry trust and rely upon, and which lets them produce the amazing stories and creations that they do
What would be a bonus:
• Experience leading other Product Managers
• Experience of creative industries such as Film Production, VFX and Games Studios
• Experience delivering production management tools
• Background in products with both an on-prem and a hosted offering
What you’d be doing:
• Taking complete ownership of this area of the overall Shotgun product set
• Defining and articulating what the strategy and roadmap should be - assessing what we have today, the gaps and what we should do next, and in what priority order
• Partnering with our engineers to deliver features that help our customers succeed (this is a hands-on role to ship features and releases)
• Defining how we meet Autodesk security standards, help our clients meet theirs, and help our clients meet the security needs of their own clients
• Constantly engaging with our passionate community and uncovering what we need to do to move security, performance and reliability forward
• Being a key member of the teams that define our future platform capabilities (such as multi-location data, unified Autodesk identity, hybrid local and cloud services etc.)
What we offer:
• An awesome Shotgun culture – fun, passionate, creative, while being organized and generally kick ass
• A super powerful platform to build upon, with great Ops and Services teams
• Highly engaged customers that live by our product, love what it can do and want to contribute
• A small company start-up feel while having the benefits of big company scale
• Being part of Autodesk which is regularly rated as one of the best companies to work for
• Highly competitive compensation packages and first class benefits (even a paid sabbatical!)
• And the opportunity to build something that becomes the standard for the media industry
