We are currently seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide administrative and editorial support the VP, Publishing Director and Executive Editor. Our team develops and publishes licensed books, novelty titles, new Intellectual Properties across all age categories, and the industry-leading I Can Read line of early readers.
Responsibilities:
• Provides administrative and editorial support to the VP, Publishing Director and Executive Editor
• Composes acquisition memos, title sheets, cover copy, and other related items related to the book-making process
• Evaluates manuscripts and writes readers reports
• Prepares expense reports and processes invoices
• Requests, sends, and tracks payments
• Arranges travel and manages calendars for the VP, Publishing Director and Executive Editor
• Assists with running weekly Editorial and Creative Review Meetings
• Manages the contracts request project from acquisition through publication; routes, tracks and distributes contracts
• Maintains all Independent Contractor Agreements and Contracts
• Orders office supplies
Qualifications:
• 4-year college degree, preferably in Literature, Writing, Early Childhood Education, or Creative Arts
• Prior work experience working in or with a publishing house, preferred
• A passion for children’s books and popular culture
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
• Excellent communication skills
• Exceptional writing skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
