Job Description:
Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal are seeking a bright, ambitious and consultative individual to support business growth and financial functions. This individual will play an instrumental role in supporting key leadership working alongside the Sales and Finance teams with a focus on maximizing revenue and profit across the business.
• Responsible for the monthly close and forecasting process to analyze financial results and accurately forecast future results across revenue and expenses
• Complete variance analysis on a monthly basis to provide insight into monthly movements
• Update monthly finance forecast templates with financial changes and commentary
• Create close relationships with the business to analyze financial results to understand variances and identify opportunities for growth
• Produce and distribute monthly financial and non-financial insights to help drive senior management decision making
• Create new operational reporting, insights and projects based on business inputs
• Continually automate and create efficiencies in processes
• Key Relationships:
◦ Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A)
◦ Other Finance teams (Global Billing, Accounting, Tax and Management Information Group (MIG))
◦ Sales teams and sales support functions
◦ Key individuals across all other areas of the business (Customer Group, Technology, Innovation, HR, Legal and others
◦ Experience with media and/or subscription-based businesses
◦ Ability to extract strategic and impactful insights from data outputs
◦ Intermediate analytical skills and experience
◦ A desire and passion to learn and progress in Dow Jones
◦ Experience in the preparation of regular financial reporting
◦ Advanced Excel skills
◦ Ability to communicate Finance items to non-Finance teams
◦ Attention to detail, data integrity and accuracy
◦ Ability to learn processes and new systems quickly
◦ A proactive team-player with the ability to clearly communicate, create and maintain great organization, multitask, think creatively and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
