Pearson’s K-12 Science group is developing new science products for elementary and secondary classrooms. Using real-world interactive lessons, research-based instruction & a wealth of reliable teaching tools, we continue to create the most impactful science programs available. The K-8 Science Marketing Manager provides strategic direction, market implementation planning and execution, and operational support for the Science product line.
Responsibilities include planning for products; researching market data that supports development decisions made by the product line leadership; and working with the cross-functional teams to ensure a successful execution of the product line strategy. The K-8 Science Marketing Manager is responsible for tracking market trends, analyzing competitive products, disseminating information to the field, and creating product messaging that portrays the programs in the most advantaged manner. The K-8 Science Marketing Manager will also develop digital and print-based marketing promotions, and marketing campaigns, utilizing tools such as Direct Response Marketing, Print Ads, Social Media and Public Relations. This position is responsible to ensure that key product features and competitive differentiators are adequately described to both external and internal customers, including the field sales members. This position is responsible for successful development and implementation of national and state-specific campaign marketing plans to support the K-8 Science product line. This position will work closely with the sales teams and will need to provide daily support, information, and training.
The K-8 Science Marketing Manager will also:
• Participate in the development of the long-term strategic plans for the market segments and product line(s)
• Participate in product planning and development work in collaboration with product development teams to ensure timely delivery of market leading offerings
• Gather and analyze data to support the decision-making process for product plans and future development
• Monitor and assess market and competitive trends and customer needs
• Communicate with customers, management, internal departments, and sales to coordinate overall marketing and product development efforts in accordance with company goals
• Manage the development of all sales and marketing collateral including digital marketing pieces such as email, social media, and website develop
• Ensure that Sales remains informed of all product information and updates
• Ensure that the daily operations for marketing are maintained
• Train Sales Representatives, Sales Managers, Specialists, and Customer Service on the complete 9-12 Social Studies product line,
Qualifications
Requirements
• 4 years work experience as a Marketing or Product Manager required
• Experience in the Science market is preferred, if possible as a teacher
• Experience in K-12 educational publishing and e-learning highly preferred
• BA/BS in related field required
• Strong track record of working on cross-functional teams required
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Strong interpersonal skills required: Must be able to interact successfully with customers, sales team, product development team, and product management team
• Good time management skills and organizational skills required
• Experience in online marketing techniques required, including email, social media, product demos (such as Brainshark or Camtasia) required
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, collaborative climate required
