JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Product Development will be responsible and accountable for guiding product design associated with Spectrum Enterprise product development initiatives. This includes constructing data models for Enterprise service offerings, working with engineering teams on product technical specifications, engaging operational stakeholders to develop service delivery and service assurance models, collaborating with process teams to optimize customer end-to-end experience, and partnering with IT on the instantiation of product functionality in Business Support Systems (OSS) and Operational Support Systems (OSS).
The Director of Product Development will be a product advocate with systems, process and operational teams on Enterprise standardization programs. As a consequence, this individual will possess both a strong understanding of customer business/product requirements and industry-leading systems architectures.
This individual will be a seasoned Product development leader with extensive experience with data communications and data center/cloud technologies. They will possess strong understanding of Software Defined Networking (SDN), Networks Functions Virtualization (NFV), Lifecycle Services Orchestration (LSO), Agile development methodologies, DevOps and other emerging technologies. They will also possess strong leadership, communication, and management skills.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to augment existing product portfolio, to enhance the customer experience and drive product performance
Builds new and innovative Enterprise services that are differentiated from the competition
Develops annual product development roadmaps and execute in partnership with cross-functional groups across Engineering, IT and Operations
Builds and manages budgets for funding and oversee development and maintenance of products
Follows Charter product development methodology to achieve innovation, rapid prototyping and development/launch of products functionality across multiple product families
Develops detailed requirements that provide guidance to the cross-functional teams involved in the development of product functionality
Oversees Product intake and management of maintenance development initiatives
Provides detailed prioritization of projects and associated requirements
Defines end-to-end customer experience, including Digital experience and both internal and external service level metrics
Collaborates with innovation teams both inside and outside the company to build proof of concept and/or technology trials
Handles escalations by working with leaders across Engineering, Operations and IT
Guides and manages the product development lifecycle from requirements development to launch of products
Provides oversight, reporting and status for the development projects by building and operating an effective team
Fosters team development by coaching direct reports to craft their personal development plans and monitoring progress against those plans
Performs other duties as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills /Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Strong PC and presentation tool skills including MS Excel and PowerPoint

Deep technical knowledge of standards and technologies used for products in Internet, Ethernet, carrier cell tower backhaul, Small Cell as a Service, MPLS, E-Access, managed network services and emerging network+cloud integrated services
Strong business planning and forecasting skills
Ability to effectively manage large and complex projects
Ability to align systems, programs, and people with the company strategy and culture
Ability to serve as a visionary and think strategically
Ability to lead large change initiatives
Ability to foster teamwork and build a strong culture of collaboration
Experience with API development (e.g., XML, REST, and SOAP) and responsive web design technologies
Experience with telecommunications product-centric data modeling
Advanced knowledge of repair and care models for carrier-grade services
Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and learn new technology quickly
Experience with SDN, NFV and LSO (e.g., ETSI MANO)
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project Management or Business Administration or equivalent experience
Master’s in EE/Computer Science or MBA preferred
Related Work Experience Number of Years
Telecommunications experience, ideally with a
successful ILEC/CLEC, Cable MSO or
telecommunication equipment manufacturer 10+
Experience managing personnel to deliver high
quality products in very
aggressive timeframes 10+
