Senior Vice President of Product Development

The Senior Vice President of Product Development will support the Pearson Online & Blended Learning K-12 (OBL) business. Formerly “Connections Education,” Pearson’s OBL team delivers online learning solutions to schools and families around the world. From full-time online and blended schools to courseware, personalized and flexible ways of learning engage students and help them succeed. Digital solutions include Pearson Connexus, Connections Academy, and International Connections Academy.
Position Summary
Working from the office in Columbia, MD, the Senior Vice President of Product Development will own a combination of strategic and tactical responsibilities to manage the development of our next generation curriculum, and technology platform products in order to positively impact schools and students in the online and blended K-12 learning business. Reporting to the President, this role contributes to the executive agenda and acts as a key liaison with other senior leaders in the business in order to ensure the development of product and corresponding services are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the agreed upon requirements.
Key responsibilities
• Provide executive leadership to a large cross-functional team (approximately 200) of curriculum and instructional development and production professionals, and software development professionals that fosters a culture that promotes the following:

◦ Focus on efficacy and the end user experience;
• Partner with product management, business development, and other stakeholders to define our next generation of curriculum, instruction, and technology platform products for students and teachers;
• Set and drive the development strategy with the curriculum and development teams related to how the curriculum and technology platform products support and meet the business needs of Pearson’s Online and Blended K-12 Learning business;
• Develop and implement a development plan that aligns with the product roadmaps, requirements, and product lifecycles created by the Product Management Team;
• Partner with Product Management to develop a deep understanding of the goals of the business and needs of customer groups in order to continually develop product enhancements to improve student performance and the customer experience;
• In partnership with the CTO, identify the optimal technology solutions and implementations to execute the product strategy created by the Executive Leadership Team and Product Management Team;
• Ensure that development and engineering strategies, processes, and tools are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of customer demand, quality, and delivery targets and which enables the organization to compete effectively in the market;
• Manage the multimillion dollar budget for the product development function.
Qualifications
Position Requirements
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in product development or product management related to learning management software and curriculum development
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role that managed teams
• Strong technical background is required
• Master’s degree required
• Strong analytical skills
