Overview and Responsibilities
The Production Finance Analyst assists the Kids & Family TV team by providing day-to-day
support for Animation Payroll and SAP/Market related matters. This includes handling weekly
union payroll and freelance payroll for the union and non-union show-related population, as
well as providing hands-on support to business users for SAP GUI and SAP Market applications
(including studio executive and production needs regarding corporate & P-Cards, T&E
policy/reconciliation help, and accounts payable assistance).
Additionally, this position will be tasked with the preparation and maintenance of production
cost reports and financial schedules including assisting series producers with budgeting and
forecasting, meeting with Production Management to identify areas of actual or potential risks
and opportunity, analyzing the current status of the budget to identify areas for reallocating
funds, preparing timely cost reports and monthly cash flows.
This position is required to fundamentally understand all aspects of production, from the
development stage through to the post-production and delivery stage, and be able to advise
both production crew members and management on timely basis regarding courses of action
necessary to keep productions on track with respect to budget.
This position interacts with internal groups (i.e. studio employees, Global Business Services, etc)
and other department members in responding to inquiries, Market assistance, etc. This position
also interacts with external (i.e. vendor) members at Cast & Crew for all payroll needs. This
position will also be an active participant in all internal and external payroll audits and any ad
hoc reporting requests. The Production Finance Analyst reports to the Director Production
Finance, Viacom Kids & Family.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Payroll
• Responsible for being the main point of contact with Cast & Crew for all Nickelodeon
Animation departments that interact with Cast & Crew: Casting, Fellowship, Artist &
Writers Program, Productions (Series and Development), etc. This position is
responsible for assisting these groups with any and all issues that would include, but not
limited to: process, paperwork, errors, etc.
• Review weekly union timecard packages from productions and transmit to Cast & Crew.
• Review weekly freelance invoices submitted by production, creation of freelance invoice
summary and transmission to Cast & Crew.
• Perform weekly union and weekly freelance edit review of data received by Cast &
Crew, follow-up/resolution correspondence with Cast & Crew paymaster, and approval
of edits for payment to employees.
• Yearly vacation payroll oversight for union studio employees.
• Perform journal entries and/or reconciliations to correct any payroll coding issues and
for requested payroll reclasses between projects/business groups on a monthly,
quarterly, and/or yearly basis.
• Coordinate and provide support for payroll audits with internal and external parties.
• Responsible for digital file maintenance of payroll submissions/approved edits.
Production Support
• Point person for business teams to investigate and resolve inquiries from teams needing
assistance with corporate and Pcards, T&E, and AP-related matters such as questions
about POs, Confirmations, etc.
• Point of contact for all local user issues regarding SAP GUI and SAP Market through
shared service center.
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Adhere to company financial policies and procedures and keep the production teams
informed of policy changes as necessary.
Finance
• Work closely with producers to effectively manage animation productions relating to
budgets, coding, journal entries, cost reports, and cash flows.
• Analyze results versus production budget and approved overages; prepare for monthly
management review, provide variance explanations with regard to potential savings or
cost overages. As needed, prepare overage memos.
• Support monthly/quarterly accounting close, including preparation of accruals,
reclasses, closing journal entries, general ledger account analysis/reconciliations and
research as needed.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or related field
• Strong working knowledge of accounting for episodic TV shows and/or previous
experience in corporate accounting/finance setting preferred
• Experience with SAP a plus
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills preferred
• Knowledge of the entertainment industry, especially TV production preferred
• Familiar with Local 839 IATSE Agreement related to animation guild contracts
• Adhere to confidential nature of highly sensitive material
• Appreciates/pays attention to detail but possesses the ability to see the bigger picture
and understands the relevance
• Efficiency, speed, accuracy, pro-active approach to job, and excellent people skills
essential
• A willingness to work as part of a team and cover other roles as necessary
