The Digital Content Manager
• Manages continuous flow of news information and images from various sources for publication on station website. Combs and organizes staff-generated content, user-generated content, and news wires for most engaging or pressing news stories.
• Guides members of general news team in producing online content.
• Identify opportunities that will maximize viewer experience via layout, enhanced coverage elements and interactive content.
• Collaborates with Multi-Media News Managers to complement special event coverage and on-going strategic broadcast initiatives.
• Maintains social network sites, such as (but not limited to) Facebook and Twitter, as well as text message alerts, email alerts, Push alerts, etc.
• Coaches web staff and general news team members who contribute to the web with various skill sets to maximize team growth.
Essential Job Functions
Works with night team to help gather news for on-air and online.
Collaborates with Multi-Media News Managers on special event coverage and strategic initiatives
Oversees web staff development and guides general newsroom staff in their web contributions
Surveys and maintains social networking efforts
Minimum Qualifications| All must be met to be considered
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience: Three to five years in a major market newsroom. Internet content management is desirable, but not required.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong editorial skills.
Working knowledge of digital technologies.
Newsroom computer skills.
