Responsible for interfacing with the Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President of Sales Distribution in all company-wide initiatives as it relates to Affiliate Sales and Marketing. Responsible for the overall new media, affiliates sales and marketing direction and administration of the programs and services provided by the Company. The Vice President is responsible for the strategy, tactics, and programs to create interest, demand, and recognition for Starz and its products and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Evaluate sales opportunities and fully negotiate and manage affiliation agreements.
• Formulate and implement strategic sales, marketing, and affiliate relations plan; manage division P&L, along with marketing and promotional programs to maximize distribution and subscriber performance.
• Establish the standards for exceeding company-wide sales goals.
• Manage field staff with specific sales, training, or administrative functions.
• Manage core line-sales processes. Develop distribution opportunities by educating potential affiliates on the services and financial benefits and value propositions.
• Implement company-wide and national sales plans throughout contract term.
• Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.
• Implement national sales programs by developing field sales action plans.
• Help maintain sales volume and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
• Recommend the establishment and adjustment of selling prices by monitoring competition and supply and demand.
• Direct overall account management. Develop and maintain relationships with key affiliate contacts.
• Communicate and teach district managers about the most effective use and presentation of all sales and marketing tools.
• Help develop sales presentations.
• Contribute to marketing effectiveness by identifying short- and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; and implementing directives.
• Maintain relations with customers by organizing and developing specific customer-relations programs; determining company presence and participation at conventions, annual meetings, trade associations, and seminars.
• Influence present and future products by determining and evaluating current and future market trends.
• Develop and recommend new positioning for existing products by analyzing statistics regarding market development; acquiring and analyzing data; and consulting with internal and external sources.
• Implement campaigns by gaining affiliate participation and affiliate-branded marketing tactics, to maintain strong upgrade and sell-in efforts of our services.
• Plan and implement the company’s promotion activities.
• Coordinate and administer, with direction from the Executive Vice President of Distribution, the company’s long-range strategic marketing plans.
BUSINESS OPERATIONS:
• Develop the annual budget and monitor this in conjunction with the Finance and Accounting Department.
• Recommend annual program goals to the Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President of Distribution. Ensure that an ongoing program evaluation system is in place related to such goals and that reports of progress are provided, on a regular basis.
• Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures appropriate to the day-to-day operation of the Company and ensure these are readily available.
• Set divisional financial objectives, policy, and practice.
• Direct the development, implementation, operation, maintenance, and control of essential business, information, and operations support systems.
• Define key divisional objectives, supporting their achievement, and measuring and reporting results.
• Work with Financial Business Analysts and Corporate Finance and monitoring quarterly analyst calls of publicly held affiliates. Use this information to help develop sales and marketing strategies.
Required Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or an equivalent field preferred; Master’s degree in Business Administration, desirable; minimum ten years' experience in a sales and marketing role, preferably within the TV entertainment field; and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of seven years' supervisory experience.
• Must have strong strategic, analytical, and creative skills.
• Demonstrated sales and sales leadership skills.
• Must have a strong work ethic, integrity, and good business acumen.
