GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Broadcast & Technology Systems Engineer will be responsible for the integrity of all technical systems (media servers, non-linear editing systems, routing systems, distribution systems, transport systems, broadcast LAN systems, video production switchers and systems, audio mixing, processing, and routing systems, cable television modulation and distribution systems, studio audio and video systems, test and monitoring systems, IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) systems, scoreboard and video matrix systems, internal and external digital video signage systems, studio broadcast and ENG (electronic news gathering) systems, desktop editing, publishing, and production systems and post-production systems.
This position is responsible for all system administration, engineering documentation, filter settings, log maintenance, and technical troubleshooting. This position requires the ability to work under pressure in order to meet broadcast deadlines, make decisions, and take corrective action under tight timelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electronic, computer based, optical and mechanical broadcasting systems. Repair and maintain all broadcast and video production equipment in emergency and preventative situations.
• Set up and operate various broadcasting equipment such as recording, video and editing equipment; check equipment for operational readiness; provide operational assistance/instruction to others as needed.
• Prepare and maintain various technical records and engineering logs pertaining to broadcast equipment performance and discrepancies according to regulations.
• Participate in all aspects of video post production, including audio mixing, technical direction, C.G. operation, computer editing, videotape operation and editing.
• Set up, maintain, and assist remote production and satellite trucks.
• Test and integrate new equipment prior to installation in Barclays Center.
• Assist with the set up and transmission of outside broadcast and point-to-point microwave links visiting Barclays Center.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of broadcast rules and regulations.
• Knowledge in maintenance, usage, and design of technical broadcast equipment.
• Skill in responding to operational/technical equipment problems.
• Skill in both verbal and written communication.
• Skill in repair of digital and analog broadcast audio and video cabling and equipment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• The ideal candidate should have experience in broadcast and technology systems engineering.
• Should have experience working in live broadcast environments.
• Should hold a B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science or have demonstrable equivalent experience.
• The candidate should have notable experience related to broadcast and technology systems design and integration.
• Must be skilled in the use of project tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel and be well-versed using Windows and Apple operating systems.
• The candidate should be able to provide technical guidance and training of operations, maintenance, and production personnel.
• Should have experience in which the candidate functioned as a television system problem-solver and troubleshooter for live events and broadcasts.
• Should have demonstrable experience administrating complex network architectures and storage systems.
• Experience in budget forecasting, personnel scheduling, and project planning
