The Product Owner is the member of the Scrum team responsible for defining User Stories and prioritizing the Team Backlog so as to streamline the execution of program priorities, while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of the Features or components the team is responsible for. This role will be working as Product Manager for one of our products and work with the Engineering team to define and communicate acceptance criteria for their development sprints. This person will also work with closely with Stakeholders to discuss and introduce functionality/feature requests so that they can be built into the product.
1. Discussions/Meetings with Stakeholders to identify and define acceptance criteria for wish list features or improvements for application. Coordinate with anyone who does not participate in scrum meetings or people who want new features in product. Talk through the feature requests to determine what the root issue is and take that information and turn into story for feature development
2. Discussions/Meetings with Head of Engineering and Head of Product to prioritize backlog and determine roadmap for web application. Review the list of desired new features and force rank them daily based on priority based on what is most valuable to the business. Receive ideas from internal stakeholders via emails or conversations for clients and add to the backlog. Create the product roadmap, including long term goals and metrics.
3. Scrum meetings that include Product Grooming, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review and Retrospective Meetings to facilitate Scrum Development Life Cycle. Attend all meetings to answer question, be available as a resource. During planning meeting help to define the story and features. During the Sprint Review work is demonstrated by the developer, accept or reject based on original criteria.
4. Prioritization of backlog items including follow-up/definition of acceptance criteria, research into potential technical hurdles or alternatives, discussions with engineers to relay information, etc. Very distinctly define what needs to be built, which provides tools and ensures accurate time frames for tasks. Create bullet points which define the acceptance criteria for each feature (grooming the story).
5. Travel to and technical support onsite for Music Festivals. This includes technical training, troubleshooting, etc.
6. Research into, discovery, and prototyping of technical solutions which will include Research & Discovery and discussions with Head of Product as well as other Product Owners. This will also include discussions with 3rd parties relating to API integrations between products.
7. Answer questions regarding application features / functionality, ensuring proper documentation (application setup / operation guides) are made available, constantly acting as an information source for and advising on best practices regarding use of the product for internal and external stakeholders
8. Plan release schedule by keeping tabs on progress to make sure it aligns with the plan, shift the plan if needed based on business needs, changing focus and release goals.
9. As part of the leadership team, provide strategic guidance and leadership for company objectives
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year) in Business Management, MIS, or Computer Science
2. 5 Years of related work experience
3. 2 years’ experience with Scrum development methodologies, either as a Scrum master, Scrum Product Owner, or developer/engineer working on a Scrum team.
4. 2 years’ experience with SAAS technologies
5. Experience working onsite at live entertainment events.
6. Must be very technically proficient and know how to do technical mock ups
7. Strong communication skills
8. Highly organized with attention to detail
9. Highly proficient in using spreadsheets to create and present analysis, auditing, and reconciliation
10. Computer proficiency to include word processing, internet, and spreadsheet
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Scrum Product Owner Certification
2. 2 years web development experience is preferred but not required.
3. 2 years product owner or project manager experience
