Marketing Executive – Academic Journals, Health Sciences (Clinical Medicine) Portfolio

The Marketing Executive is responsible for planning and implementing marketing campaigns and multi-tactical digital campaigns to drive awareness of their assigned journals; to increase readership, and to grow / enhance the email database and ultimately manuscript submissions.
The role includes ensuring that journal information is included in marketing collateral for company conferences as well as coordinating marketing activities with journal society partners (including negotiating with conference organizers and creating, printing and shipping promotional materials). You will regularly collate Key Performance Indicator statistics for each of your journals within the portfolio and will be required to contribute to monthly and quarterly reports. Additionally you will support the Marketing Manager working on cross-company marketing projects as required.
You will need to think on your feet, have strong time management and communication skills and have previous marketing experience.
The role is office based but may include occasional travel to conferences or other company locations.
Responsibilities
• Own the planning and implementing a wide range of online and offline marketing tactics.
• Assisting in setting key performance indications and other measurements for campaigns.
• Analyse campaign performance against key performance indicators.
• Responsibility for reporting on all channels and campaigns overseen.
• Owning responsibility for a set portfolio of products and range of campaigns.
• Liaising with internal stakeholders to prioritise campaigns and identify key activities.
• Managing your own varied stakeholder expectations.
• Supporting the editorial and publishing teams through the generation of leads.
• Creating tailored messages for specific audiences depending upon campaign objectives .
• Contributing to departmental best practice across the wider Marketing teams
• Writing and proofreading copy for emails, leaflets, webpages etc.
• Planning and developing regular promotions for social media channels
• Leading or contributing to internal projects which may assess the ROI of new marketing channels, techniques, or tools..
• Create and implement tactics to drive new email subscribers to journal lists
• Creation and content management of marketing websites (using Core Media)
• Keeping up-to-date with industry and competitor developments
• Provide mentorship and support to Marketing Assistant in the team
Experience, skills and qualifications
• University degree, preferable in science or business / marketing or a similar qualification
• Highly organized individual with exceptional time management skills and ability to work under pressure
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proof reading
• Clear ability to work independently
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and react quickly to changing priorities
• Experience of budget tracking
• Knowledge of open access and journals publishing
• Experience of developing and implementing marketing plans and activities, both online and offline
• Understanding of the elements needed to manage a project
• Analytics and reporting and demonstrating ROI of marketing activity
• Demonstrable experience of academic & author marketing
• Previous marketing experience requiered
