SUMMARY
Responsible for the oversight and management of all day to day operations of the Sales Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES
• Work closely with the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority and HCC Sales staff to book citywide conventions and tradeshows at the HCC. Meet and exceed Sales goals set forth by HTA and General Manager.
• Lead and oversee all HCC Sales department staff:
• Provide department with exceptional leadership and motivational work environment to encourage productivity and ensure goals are met.
• Work with General Manager to set forth Sales Performance Plan goals
• Responsible for the hiring, coaching, training, performance tracking and discipline of Sales staff. Work with Human Resources on all such related items.
• Manage department budget. Closely monitor budget to ensure accuracy in tracking, spend, expenses etc.
• Perform all sales related functions in support of strategic plans set forth by HCC Marketing Department, including but not limited to:
• Collaborate with Marketing department to close business based on strategy.
• Account solicitation of local, state, regional, national and international markets.
• Oversee the management of bookings and communication to clients on all aspects affecting their booking.
• Negotiate and initiate formal license agreements
• Oversee and manage all pre-event correspondence and meetings until account can be turned over to Events and/or Food & Beverage department(s).
• Develop departmental strategic plans to close business within market segments set forth by General Manager and Marketing Department.
• Oversee and direct efficient processes within department to ensure compliance and effective production.
• Gain and maintain relationships and knowledgebase of/within the Convent Center industry. Maintain a high public and professional image at all times representing the HCC.
• Represent the HCC at various trade-related function and conventions. Travel required.
• Provide reports to the General Manager including, but not limited to, inquiries, bookings, site visits, and other sales activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
•Minimum of 10 years of experience in a marketing or sales function, preferably in the Hospitality Industry.
•Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for college degree.
