Job Introduction
The BBC is an international multimedia broadcaster on radio, TV, online and social networks with a weekly global audience of 320 million. As part of an historic and exciting expansion of BBC Africa, the BBC World Service is launching new current affairs, features and TV news programmes and innovative digital services in London, Nairobi and Lagos.
We are looking for talented, motivated and experienced broadcast journalists or producers to help launch a wide range of new and creative content- in various genres including Business, Health, Children's News, Technology and Sport all for African audience.

Role Responsibility
• To use editorial judgement, creativity and flair to make original and compelling visual content from piloting to delivery.
• To lead programme projects and liaise closely with Language services, Production Operations, Visual Journalism, Business Development, Training, Audiences, Marketing, Distribution and, Rights teams.
• To examine, investigate and propose ways of working and will make sure the language service teams have the data, support and training to deliver.
• To evaluate, monitor and manage risks, issues and changes, escalating as appropriate.
• To build and maintain links with the Languages Newsroom including the TVU, DigiHub and Planning, On Demand, World News TV, the News Channel, TV Bulletins and Online to enable the efficient production of content.
• To be responsible for thinking through and around editorial problems, developing realistic alternative strategies and approaches.
The Ideal Candidate
BBC Africa are looking for a talented, motivated and experienced Senior Broadcast Journalist or Producer to help support the launch of a wide range of content and programmes in Sport, Health, Children’s News,Technology and Business in multiple languages.
The multimedia Senior Broadcast Journalist will work to the TV and Digital Video Editorial Lead in line with the WS languages TV strategy. You will work closely with specific language services leaders and production operations to plan and shape high quality, innovate programmes from pilot phase to delivery. You will manage projects within the agreed time, coordinating and communicating with all stakeholders. You will lead and motivate a new team of Language Service Broadcast Journalists and implement new ways of working which will enable the teams to deliver the content on a daily basis. The finished product has to meet the highest standards for broadcast by partner channels and online streaming. You will also be able to work and communicate with other BBC departments and specialist units across the BBC.
